Oh, I don't know that it's really necessary to fix. We all need a little mystery in our lives, after all. ;)

As a side note, I intended (but forgot) to add that I intend to start the bard course once my piddly budget allows for it. All things in good time, I suppose.

Greetings!
Always had a leaning towards Druidism though never realised it at the time.I've studied several books on the subject, and feel it's now time to take the next step.
I have never met a practising Druid and wondered how I go about it ( you are a secretive lot! ) At the moment I'm based in London, I'm 52yrs old, male, and would be keen to meet up with any members.
Cheers !

Welcome to the Board Wulfric. :) Make yourself at Home and have a look about. Here is a link you might find helpful: www.druidry.org As you will find, we are not all that secretive. :)

Hello to all of Joyous hearts,
My pagan name is Cypresseyes and I am 61 years old. Currently I live in Florida but plans are underway for a move to Tennessee in the next couple of years. I would welcome any messages from fellow OBOD members. There are no groves close to where I live and sometimes it gets lonely out here.
Blessings to all

Hiya folks,

My name's Ravenari, and I'm 30, living in Western Australia. I have two rescue cats, a rescue partner (okay, just kidding), and recently joined the Bardic grade of OBOD. Otherwise, I do plenty of art and writing, and like chocolate a little bit too much (although, I'd argue maybe there's no such thing). *waves* :)

Greetings and salutations to everyone! (is that repeating myself? I'm never sure)

Even though this is far overdue, I figured there was no time like the present, so here's my introduction.

I think I actually signed up here ages ago when I first started the OBOD course, ('bout a year ago) but with one thing and another, I forgot about it. On re-discovering this forum, I was reminded that I must have signed in already, as I couldn't attach my email to the username I was attempting to create, lol! I actually had to pester an admin to discover what random name I'd created and also get given a password to get back in here, lol! So after a lot of confusing craziness, I'm finally here! :yay:

My actual name is Tanya, but that's boring, so I thought I'd be a bit more creative with my username. :P I live in Australia, Queensland, on the edge of the Gold Coast. It's pretty damn tropical here at times, and we've just finished with the most mildest winter I've ever experienced anywhere! It was so warm, my baby Elder trees didn't even drop their leaves. They have a few yellow leaves now, but are also throwing up fresh green shoots and new suckers everywhere. I think they're a bit confused.
I'm 30 something...that's about as close as I can remember, lol! With every year, it seems to matter less and less. Besides....I'm terrible with numbers and don't keep track. I was born in 1977 if you want to work it out. :D

I have a partner of about 18+ years - we're not actually sure on the exact date. Technically, I really should count it from when I was 19, as that was when I first met him. He'd just got his first job as a lawyer then, and today, he's still one....but now a lot greyer. :P I love him to bits (could kill him sometimes, lol!) but this druidry thing is the one thing I haven't shared with him. Every time anything pagan-y comes up...he tends to make fun of it in a way that I don't like, and makes me cringe. He's totally supportive of anything I do otherwise. Weirdly enough, he really like Dahm the Bard, and as a result, he's on the PAN group to keep track of when he's next in town. Really awkward, yeah? It's a bit of a problem, and one I'm still trying to figure out how to approach. If any of you have had similar experiences, I want to know how you handled it, because I'm at a loss.

I also have a grey little moggy that I took in a few years ago. When I found her in my yard (she was sniffing around my rats at the time) she was rather heavily pregnant. A friend of mine reckoned she fell pregnant with her first heat. She was pretty young. After I carefully found good homes for all 5 of her kids ( it was sooo tempting to keep them!), I got her "scooped out" and micro-chipped, so she could never get lost again.
We (my partner, not the cat :P) currently own a house together and have been here for over 3 years now. I will finally be able to have that huge herb garden I've always been wanting, as well as to grow my own fruit and veges. Money's not as plentiful as it used to be, so some of my plans will have to wait. *sigh* I hate waiting.... :gloomy:

Hmm...what else? We are "into" medieval re-enacting, and have been for many years (at least 10+ years). When we lived on the other side of town, we were involved with a viking re-enactment group, which was really fun. Now we're Gold Coast side, it was a bit far to travel, so we've joined a nice, laid back local SCA group.
Before we moved, I used to do a lot of bone carving which I used to sell...or rather...I'd bring along my finished pieces to a meeting, and people would throw money at me for them, lol! Good times...good times!
If you want to have a looksie at what I do/did, here is my photobucket page of just a few of my carvings.

http://s173.photobucket.com/albums/w55/ ... 20carving/

I will resume carving someday when I finally get my tools sorted again. It's slow work organising everything around here.
If you ever have any questions about bone carving, I'd be more than happy to tell you what I know. I really love sharing knowledge! :D

If there's anyone else out there that does reiki, then HI! :hiya: I'm a reiki person too! (lvl 2 btw. That means I can do distance stuff if need be) I get sod all chance to really practice it, as I'm by myself most days here, and with a lack of any other reiki people in the area that I can find, it's a bit hard to really "do" anything with it, or indeed to learn how to use it better. So, still hugely lost in THAT forest!
Also, I can be kinda slack (read - lazy :P), and I get distracted easily with everyday life, and so forget to focus on stuff like this like I ought to do.

I think that's about all I can think of for now, really.
I can't even remember if I signed up to the OBOD pages (since I've just about finished my bardic course now), but that will have to be for another day.
I really should start on my bardic report thing tomorrow. I've only put it off for a month. :anx:

I do have a possibly unique story as to how I came to druidry, but that also will have to be for another day. At the time of writing, it's 3am, and I should probably get to bed.
As it is, I have about a dozen tabs from this site that I want to read tomorrow - for starters - so I'll no doubt get back to chatting with you all another time.

Hope you all have a great day, whenever and wherever you read this. :)
Be good!

Luv,
T. <3

Re: INTRoDucTIONS: How old are you and where do you live...?

Postby WhiteCrow » 09 Sep 2012, 08:16

Been lurking and reading ( the amount of info on this site is VAST!) for a few weeks so I thought I better introduce myself.

I'm Debbie, turned 41 a couple of days ago, from co. Durham in the North East UK. Very new to Druidry and also quite perplexed. I've been on a pretty much Traditional British Witchcraft path for many years now but for the last 18 months or so it hasn't felt quite "right". I can't really explain it other than I suddenly felt unconnected to it.

About 2 months ago Druids and the study of druidry started cropping up a lot, on TV, sites I kept stumbling across online and other little things. I suddenly dug out my Druidcraft tarot and animal oracle, which I hadn't used for a long time, and started connecting with them again. It felt like a nudge, then a push, to start learning more. So far I've ploughed through The Druid Way and The Elements of Druid Tradition. Just recently started the Druid Source Book. The beliefs and ideas are basically what I already believe and I feel strongly pulled to learn more.

I've read through the introductory package on the Bardic course and would love love love to start it but the state of my finances means I can't afford to. :-(

So, about the "perplexed" thing. Druidry isn't something that ever appealed to me, too much ceremony / ritual, too much like organized religion, and it always felt like a "bloke thing" lol ! But, I'm devouring every bit of info I can find and trying to figure out why it suddenly seems the absolute-must-take-next-step. And the sudden desire to learn to play the harp, never been interested in any musical instrument before so I'm quite surprised at this ! (Have been drooling over Busy Mole Musics' own 19 string harps, wish I could afford one.)
Please bear with me as I am sure I will have a million and one daft questions to ask on this forum.

Hi everyone. :hiya: My name is Lynsey, I'm 24 and I'm from Liverpool in the UK. I've been following a sort of eclectic pagan path since I was about 14 and I've been reading a lot about druidry recently and I'm really drawn to it and keen to learn more!

I look forward to chatting to you all! :)
