Thanks, Steven for the Rock against Racism link, I'll try to learn it on guitar.

Kytty, your recipe sounds lush, I wouldn't knock about with it though, looks just great as it is :) and thank you for your positivity about the Welsh, I wasn't apologising for being Welsh though, like I said we are a small but proud country and it says something of our resilience that we still maintain our cultural roots our language (which nearly disappeared at one point) traditions that we clung onto but are now thriving and how we can live with our next door neighbours (most of us are part English) and benefit from doing so. We are still devolving and have a big referendum coming soon. Traditions such as the National Eisteddfod, Urdd Eisteddfod and International Eisteddfod have helped place us on the world map. It's a marvelous experience at international level, where countries compete against each other...when our little school competed there the whole world seemed to be under one large tent roof...Swedish, Polish, English, Asian, even the Masai. It was a very humbling experience. I always wear my daffodil with pride and honour the diversity of my lineage.

Blessings :D

This might give you a clearer sound for the lyrics. Nice easy chords for guitar as well ;)

Wow, this thread has gone bonkers since my last visit! Fantastic to see it keep going like this. Hello to all the Aussies who have dropped in since I was last here. (Ha ha ha, did two unfortunate typoes in that sentence and it ended up as 'Assies who dripped in'! :-) )

I'm really enjoying all the subjects. My suggestion for Aussie books for the baby is Blinky Bill. Hmm, might be a bit old for now but I remember reading it as a kid and really enjoying his naughtiness and all the Australian animals illustrated in it. Has anyone mentioned The Magic Pudding? also, you oculd get the buba a stuffed koala instea dof amore traditional teddy bear.

When my sis had her baby, I gave her a basket with lots of stuff to pamper herself in it. Not exclusive to aussies of course, but I wonder if you could find some Aussie lollies and gourmet stuff and things like that? My sister in law lives in kentucky now and she and her girls go nuts for twisties and chupa chups and all sorts of silly things they can't get there. And Vegemite of course!

Rav3en, lovely that you found Grandmother Oak! We have some oak trees here that we grew from acorns from one my Great Grandmother had in her yard. Many members of the family have grown trees from that one, and it is a lovely family tradition.

Boy oh boy, is our wonderful old country giving us merry hell just now, all over it seems. Be gentle with us, old mother! I hope you are all keeping well, and my very best wishes go out to the Kiwis as well. There is a Grove in Christchurch is there not?

Hugs,

Bronzie

Super recording, great festival, Steven. :tiphat:

Okie Dokie, Bronzewing. It's a pretty straightforward shopping list then !!! I've already bought and filled a pampering basket, good to know that some traditions are shared worldwide :) And I've found out a little more, we're a regular global village. There's a Scottish Aunt in Canada and a strong Cornish Welsh link, well our commonalities include (tin) mining as well as the language root. So the baby has a plethora of cultures to embrace :D

has anyone heard the adelaide singer siobhan owen? she was born in wales of welsh/irish parentage and is truly beautiful. :cloud9: she's put out two cds, both lovely, but she was only sixteen when she did the first, and there's a great improvement in the second. celestial echoes is the name of it. i'm hanging out for her next.

here's her website.

Hello, I wanted to pop in and greet other Aussie Druids.

My name is Sandra, and some with very long memories may remember me from the 1,2,3 Australian Assemblies!

I've had a couple of kids since then, and am finally ensconsed into the Druid Grade after... um ... let's say after 20 years!

I live in Brisbane, Queensland, and am keen to renew acquaintence with OBODies I have known and meet others I don't know. I am one of the founding members of Macademia Seed Group (as was Joel, but I have no idea where he is now!!!) and it would be great to organise some meetings / rituals with other locals following a Druid path.

hallo sandra! :hiya: i was wondering when you'd come back to us. we met at cooringal grove at raf's (lesley's) first hosting of the assembly. i hadn't changed my name yet so i was still called vivienne back then. we sang folk songs together - you played the recorder which you were just learning at the time and we sang english folk songs. there were a lot of people there and we all sat round singling and playing our instruments. do you remember me among the many?

would be lovely to see you there, ladyA. Aurora, sorry you can't make it this time, but there will always be more chances. Jenny has been organizing pagan things since long before I knew her. It was she who pointed me to OBOD. You can also keep track of things she plans on http://www.facebook.com/home.php?sk=gro ... 60370&ap=1 - the Sydney Pagans group on FB. It's a gentle mixed bag that gives people of pagan persuasion a chance to get together now and then - just a handful of us usually, but a good time to be had.

Hi Wyverne, - how could I ever forget you!? We even had a picture of us together gracing Serphent Star for a while!

Hopefully I will see you again at the next Assembly in South Australia. I hope to get something Druid-ish happening in Brisbane, but March has been far more busy than normal, so things are on the back burner again!

Hi Bronzie, all :)

Thank You! I love your story about how your Family have been growing their own Oak Trees from the one your Great Grandmother had! My Nan also had an Oak Tree growing in her yard and I wish more than anything I would have had the foresight to collect and grow acorns from it, sadly she passed over when I was 19 and her house sold so I never did get to :(

On a happier note though I have been back to see Grandmother Oak (in the Park) and collected two acorns, one which was already on the ground and a brown colour and the other still on the tree which I asked permission to take. I'm looking forward to watching them grow :)

To everyone who has joined in the thread since I last posted, :hiya: ! (btw LOVE your mead recipe kytty!) :D

 and Blessings,
Ra3vyn :)
