A message for Imbolc

A bunch of people all over the world are going to turn off their lights  in their houses from 19:55 to 20:00 on February 1, 2007.
This "thing" is  organised by L'Alliance pour la Planète, calling every abled body on  Earth
to participate in this global human action for raising awareness  on Climate Changes, see:  http://www.lalliance.fr/

Why lights out?

To give the planet 5 minutes of rest.
This is not so much about your, mine, and global energy savings, as it is about raising awareness with  people, media, and government that something is "not quite right".

In fact, that it is already way beyond "not quite right", and that we  need to start preparing so we can do "it" whatever "it" is that is required for dealing with what Climate Changes will bring us.
And for local governments as signal that this is a much more important  (and challenging  ;-)  focus than local and global politics driven by
competition.

The locus of authority is Earth, not mankind, and She plays a mom that's  standing her ground,
so childish games just won't work (and are actually quite irresponsible in this contemporary global context).

Why on Februari 1, 2007 ?

For me personal because it's Imbolc, in genaral also because that day in Paris the new report of climatological experts of the UN will be presented.

Le 1er février 2007, dans toute la France :

Participez à la plus grande mobilisation
des citoyens contre le Changement Climatique !

L’Alliance pour la Planète lance un appel simple à tous les citoyens, 5 minutes de répit pour la planète : tout le monde éteint ses veilles et lumières le 1er février 2007 entre 19h55 et 20h00. Il ne s’agit pas d’économiser 5 minutes d’électricité uniquement ce jour-là, mais d’attirer l’attention des citoyens, des médias et des décideurs sur le gaspillage d’énergie et l’urgence de passer à l’action ! 5 minutes de répit pour la planète : ça ne prend pas longtemps, ça ne coûte rien, et ça montrera aux candidats à la Présidentielle que le changement climatique est un sujet qui doit peser dans le débat politique.

Pourquoi le 1er février ? Car le lendemain sortira, à Paris, le nouveau rapport du groupe d’experts intergouvernemental sur l’évolution du Climat (GIEC) des Nations Unies. Cet événement aura lieu en France : il ne faut pas laisser passer cette occasion de braquer les projecteurs sur l’urgence de la situation climatique mondiale.

Si nous y participons tous, cette action aura un réel poids médiatique et politique, moins de trois mois avant l’élection présidentielle!

Faites circuler au maximum cet appel autour de vous et dans tous vos réseaux ! Faites le également apparaître sur votre site Internet et dans vos news letters.
