POETRY AND WRITING FORUM -- WHAT IT IS AND IS NOT

Postby Crow » 26 Jan 2006, 18:47

The Poetry and Writing Forum is here for the posting of poetry and prose in a non-competitive and supportive environment.

If writers desire constructive criticism to their work, they should request it in a simple preamble to the work they are submitting.

Authors who do not elect to seek constructive criticism have a right to post their works with the expectation that they will not be flamed, and even those writers who do ask for feedback have the right to expect that any suggestions offered will be respectful and well-considered.

The moderators will remove any follow-up posts that are seen as cruel, derogatory, unhelpful or mean, and by right of their position, they will be the sole arbiters of whether follow-up posts meet the standards of propriety.

Thank you,
Crow, Amethyst and Dair Ciúin (past moderators)
and earthwoman, katsu and Jingle (current moderators)

"Flamed" refers to rude personal attacks (e.g. name calling, hostile remarks, accusations, etc.) that are neither constructive or warranted.

Dear Crow,
Are Triads considered prose? I'm sorry. I should have asked before I posted.

Dear Moderators,

Do you think it would be possible to break up the Poetry and writting forum? I was looking at the sheer volume of contributions since december alone and .... well... HOLY COW THERE'S ALOT! Could we do sub categories like: Short Poetry, Long poetry, long prose, short prose, short story, long story, Prayers, Rituals, Sayings, Meditations, and of course - MY FAVORITE - TRIADS  I think it would keep the offerings from getting lost in the deluge of Bardic Inspired Creativity :D Thank you - MCP

I think that would be groovy too. A triad section could host a themed triad thread once in a while, get us all meditating on the same subject, then open it to posting after a week or so.

Paul - That sounds like a great idea to me!

Michael - Maybe we could start with some general categories like poetry, triads, and prayers, with anything that doesn't fit into those categories staying in the main forum.

Personally I'd love to see a lyrics sub-forum but I'm not sure there's a call for it at the moment. It would be nice for there to be a place where the lyrics to the songs in the Bardic Directory could be posted.

We haven't been ignoring you, honest

Go fill out the poll and give some suggestions as how this could work. If it's split up, I imagine all the old stuff is going to stay where it is, and the subcategories will be for new work only since I can't imagine any of us having the time to go through and categorize all of the existing submissions.

Jingle

Hello, brand new here (my 2nd post). Could someone please tell me what a "triad" is?

Thank you,
