Prayer to Danu

Postby wrenrainn » 14 Mar 2008, 04:57

I am just going to go out on a limb and share a prayer I wrote a couple of months ago. I enjoy writing prayers that I use with prayer beads that I create.

Prayer to Danu

Most Ancient of the Celtic Mothers
Mother of my ancestors
The bright and shining children

Remember your daughter
Flowing One of the ancient rivers
Spirit of Enchanted Wells

Bless me with your wisdom,
that I may be wise and teach
my children to walk in your ways

Bless me with your protection
that I may walk
through day and night without fear

Bless me with your prosperity
that I may enjoy
the bounty of the earth and be generous

Bless me with your sustanence
that I will be full
and satisfied with life

Bless me with your strength
that I may care
for myself and others

Bless me with your productivity
That I may know
the joy of work and a job well done

Support me with your staff
When I am weak
and in need

Honor me with your nuturing presence
At all times
and every moment

Bless me with your knowledge,
and the blessing
of knowing You.

Unite with me
and be my patron
According to your wisdom

Help me walk my path in honor
I bless you and thank you
Gracious Ancient Mother Danu

Thank you! It's beautiful.

It has special meaning for me, as Danu is a name I was given in meditation years ago. (I didn't even know who she was at the time!).

Thank you for all the kind encouragement. Danu is precious to me as well, she just has all the things that resonate with me that a Mother Goddess would be and I can relate/identify with her.
Blessings to all,

Dear Wrenrainn,

May I use this in ceremony and meditation? It really moved me when I read it. Thank you. Peace

I would be honored for you to use it. I'm so glad it touched you. I use it with my prayer beads. Usually I just repeat it 3 - 9 X heartfully depending on my time. Use it how you like. Thanks for asking.

Beautiful and moving. Travel out on that limb often, for it is strong and the Goddess is holding it for you!

It is hard to find very much about Danu, I keep looking for more. I have been drawn to her for about a year. I am thinking about trying to paint her, maybe with rivers running down her dress. Her dress could be the hills. To me she is Mother/Creator, the whole of the divine feminine.
Thank you,
Wrenrainn

That is an incredible prayer. You are a very talented writer! :applause:
I hope you don't mind if I put it in my journal? It speaks to me like it has many others here at the forum.

Thank you for sharing that with everyone.
