As thick as a tree trunk
shaped like Hercules 's thigh

To the local show
this radish did go

Bigger than pumpkins
longer than carrots
smarter than most of
the non talking parrots


It won all the prizes
including best flower?
Beating off all comers
with its amazing power

How it changed into a sponge cake
I shall never know
with its savoury cream
it got best in show

And the gardeners said that's
one
big veg

but a radish is a radish
all said and done
being a carrot is great a pumpkin fun

though a giant radish
leaves a giant hole
and is hard to disguise in a salad bowl

And the Diners said that's
one
hot veg
