valley of the mist

its quiet here. the starry field above has faded into hues of deep purple and shades of pink as dawn approaches. a blanket of mist caresses the dew covered grass. the air is still. not even the restless breeze whispers in this hour. the dawn is still a time yet away. the wet grass beneath the mist sleeps in its tender wet embrace, awaiting the warm light to awaken it to the gentle whispers of the breeze. the leaves of the trees hang drearily weighted by the dew, giving the trees an appearance of deep dreams i can only imagine how ancient. the sky softens further from deep purples and pinks to steel grey and into blue azure. white clouds drift lazily above as the mist rises to a thin fog. its quiet here and i wish too stay in the clearing along my path, but i must journey on and i know the road ahead is fraught with hardships and perils, I wish could stay in the peace of the valley of mists in the hour of dawn but i must go.
I wish I could stay.
I wish I could stay.
A tear drops from my eye and lands on a morning glory as the first light of the day touches it and it blooms open like a silent explosion of white and purple. I hear it as the first sound of the day, it whispered sleepily, "thank you, for waking me."

I wish i could stay.

"I have walked the paths of shadow and shade, twixt light and dark, on the cusp of rain and snow, twilight of the heavens. Raven calls echo in the dimming of night.
A sullen lullaby that quiets my steps. Standing on the shades of the shadows I watch.
I listen to the trees of the great forest sighing breathless whispers and forgotten wishes to the restless breeze, carried to the gods and goddesses of olde. Watcher is what was named of me. I tread the paths of shadow and shade awaiting the time when the forests will sing my song again..."
