Emptiness

Postby Kima » 02 Sep 2011, 07:11

it isn't you
or me
or him
or her

or the force of circumstances
that leave me covered in
shame
or pain
and love

but an unbending rule
that if you substract
one body
from one life
it adds up to emptiness

there is no fault
or original sin
no trick
no treachery

yet nothing can absolve me
or justify the harm
we're lost
you lose
our loss

only the undying rule
that if I substract
my body
from your life
it adds up to emptiness

Thanks. This poem is the fruit of a complicated and painful love entanglement, if I may call it that. It is addressed to a lover whom I have disappointed.

Beautiful poem Kima. It is a positive thing that you found the place you needed to go, internally, to transmute this sorrowful and lonely experience into a beautiful song that speaks to the universal sense of loss everyone feels at one time or another. By reading your poem, someone who is feeling alone or sad can know that not only is there another person who feels the same way, but also, that even our negative and dark periods can yield beautiful fruit. Thank You for posting your poems. They have a self examining depth that speaks to a nature within us all, waiting to be discovered and shared.
