My inner sacred grove

Postby spellbound » 30 Apr 2012, 01:04

I've never, ever attempted writing poetry before. I'm more of a "facts only" gal. But during the practicum of envisioning my inner sacred grove, I asked the spirits of the trees around me, old and venerable magnolias and pecans, to send some inspiration my way. This just sort of flowed through my mind. I began writing, and here is the result:

The wind gives voice to the trees.
They speak with love.
The birds call a welcome.
The grass bids my weary soul to rest.
The sky covers and protects me from harm
the way a good father should.
The earth, giver of all life, radiates kind strength
that envelops me.
The breeze caresses my skin, the sweet touch
of friendship and joy.
All within my grove bid me peace, a tranquility
that no human can give.
It is the spirit of my true family accepting
me back to them, as a broken vagrant might
find at last some good in herself.

I give them thanks.
There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy.
