Though this thread has gone to sleep,
Your poetic prowess is still all to sleek.

Why the silence over came this board I am unsure,
But just be certain our message is always pure.

So as long as we answer Awen's call,
This thread that be will never fall.

I must go for my stomach's sake,
Blessed be and watch for other ideas this thread makes!

Oh now I see just what you've done
TrueUp has OfRavensBlood become
And I must review and I must edit
So the proper friend gets credit

The sky so blue it makes me cry,
but not for sadness or woe.
To be under her mantle, and out in the wild,
it shows me the way I must go.

The grass so green it warms my heart
brings joy beyond compare.
The pure white snow so cold and still
is a wonder which I must share.

A river flows through dappled grove
till it meets with the ocean deep
and the visions it brings of wond'rous things
are mem'ries I gladly will keep.

The Forest so wild, our Mothers child,
as far as the eye can see,
draws me ever on, I must be gone,
become kin to every tree.

These gifts are gifts from our Mothers store
given freely, but not without cost.
Share them, and savour, then pass them on down
lest the wisdom they've shown us is lost.

(I'm not 100 per cent happy with this... but???)

Ah Aidan my friend,
your magic is back
I wonder why you're not happy?

Good symbols and rhymes
Great meter and verse
And not even a little bit sappy.

The poetry forum
Is where this should be
I'm sure all would love it there

To share the worth
Of all things Earth
Your poetry you should share.

This poem my friend
Should have its own thread
I believe it will get some attention

For we walk this path
(The love of the world)
And saving it all our intention

And don't forget
Come Samhuin time
To post in the competition!
Light,

Jingle

Jingle bells, you encourage so wells
that hardly can I contain
my urge to create, be it ever so late
and sleep calls me to bed once again.

To slumberlands hall I will answer the call
and hopefully wake well refreshed.
Should dreams cast a spell, I will drink at the well
thirst quenched, and poetically blessed.

So goodnight for now, sweet Morpheus waits
I'll visit again on the morrow,
with my bagful of words, and songs from the birds   (ugh, tacky)
to banish this spectre of sorrow.

I tripped and fell into this well
Of Bardic recreation
Where I did find a collective mind
Of wondrous sensations.

So free, so true, it absolutely blew
Me from the water,
You’ll hear a hiss from the forest mist
For I am Awen’s Daughter.

Do not fret for you have met
A poet without tact
Do not fear for I am here
To help pick up the slack.

A thousand welcomes, Sorcha A.R.
I'm really glad you found us.
For nothing is worse
Than a sleeping verse
Waiting to wrap around us!

Thanks my dear Jingle, I’m glad we could mingle
Was that a little too cheesy?
Agree there’s nothing worse than a tired verse
‘cept when the cat makes me sneezy.

The pleasure in mine, I do love to rhyme,
Who doesn’t love Mother Goose?
The sun it does set, it was nice to have met,
Guess it’s time to move my caboose.

The buffet Chinese I ate with ease
It makes me a little bit tired,
So now that I’m fed I’ll go early to bed
Unless I want to get fired.

I'm not used to rhyming
Please pardon bad timing
When I sit down to write a small verse

But since here it's the norm
I shall try this rare form
And hope I shall not sound too terse

I know not if other places
Full of fresh faces
Fall behind, spring ahead, all that lot;

But here I am sitting
Ignoring my knitting
Unable to sleep in my cot!

I know this is cheesy
But rhyming's not easy
Especially when sleep deprived,

So please don't make jest
I'm doing my best
Or perhaps I'm just losing my mind!

:D

It's called Daylight Saving, and so it has been, just as long as I can recall.
We do it each Springtime, leap forward an hour, (Then lose it again in the Fall)

It has haunted my brain, both time and again, but an answer has never been found.
Just what are we saving? from whom and for why? Each year this puzzle comes round.

It might make some sense if the clocks were to change with the Sun in the sky shining bright.
But no, that's too simple, it has to be done when its dark, in the midst of the night.

And anyway people, what would we all do with the time we had accumulated?
Perhaps we would study, read all the great books, untill our knowledge was sated.

But somehow I doubt this would come about, I'm guilty, I know of this crime.
Just how many others, my sisters and brothers, will carry on WASTING our TIME?

Now Time is just Illusion
Let alone a coo-coo clock
Will add to the confusion
Making Daylight rock

Meddling  with the Hours
Ah, we might as well
Does that influence the Powers?
I guess Time will ever tell

Daylight Savings

Postby Sorcha A. R. » 30 Oct 2006, 20:11

I woke with a shock to find 3 o’clock
Written in flashing red numbers,
Stunned at the sight, out of bed with a fright
And across the room I did lumber.

I’m late, I’m late, what a horrid state
Just like the white rabbit knew,
To the next room I rush and then did I blush,
But phew, it’s only 2:00.

A week before thanksgiving day the pantry begins to fill.
I am hungry now, but must find other things to make a meal.
Seems ironic to me the food I cant touch.
When in a week there will surely be to much.

Oh dear, I fear, T'was ever such when feasting time comes round,
the Fatted-Calf, (or Turkey-Cock) is plucked from his home ground.

Beers are brewed, wines laid down, and Honey-Meads fermented,
by many a cup, or glass, or horn will friendships be cemented.

But we must await the proper date, 'ere festive fare is tasted,
now don't despair, worry, or care, nary a crumb will be wasted.

Tagging along

Postby urbandruid » 11 Dec 2006, 21:17

So, where Awen takes us is the quest?
But so long ere entrant sighted!
Don't say I've joined the game too late
And inspiration's but benighted?

A slip of time has snapped the thread
Of this fine poetic banter?
Well, let's knot the ends and kick the can
And resume this metric canter.

It's almost time for the gathering
In the sacred town of Glasters.
How many of you will I see down there,
O merry rhyming masters?

At Chalice Well we'll see Mabon born,
In the morning this time, remember?
From the darkest of times we'll bring in the light,
Bringing flame from the once-dying embers.

So seek me out my poetic friends,
And together we'll bring light to the weekend.
My tribe will be flying our South Rheged banner,
May your journey be blessed and lightened.

Oh, thank you Steve
For waking this thread
Which tends to hibernate
Like the bear of the North
Or Cerridwen's womb
For rebirth it's never to late.

As you celebrate there
The rebirth of light
Here too we will cast off the dark
From the cold of the fire
To a blaze of the log
Will be started with only a spark.

For us it will be
By the light of the sun
Celebrated in our grove
In the heart of the woods
Yet ever so near
The City of Brotherly Love

But at home in the night
Of the day of least light
The Yule log will be blazing
With the sliver of moon
Just after new
The surroundings will be amazing.

So wherever you are
If you be near or far
The blessings of solstice surround you
Gather your friends
In the darkest of night
And watch as the light grows around you!

Blessings to all in this season of new light.
Light,

Jingle
