Stress and Diacritics in Welsh

Hi all,

I've been looking for an anwer to the question of stress and diacritics in welsh that I've not been able to find upto now.

While the diacritics show variations on the length of the vowel is the stress changed by these diacritics, as in Spanish.

In Spanish the stress is, as in Welsh, almost always on the penultimate syllable, however one of the few diacritics in Spanish is the ' which indicates an abnormal stress; camión and not camion.

So do the diacritics change the stress and this the stressed vowel is always long?

as far as I know.....the stress is always on the penultimate syllable as you say. And circumflexes, otherwise called tai bach, just lengthen the sound of the vowel, but don't change the stress in the word.....again as far as I know.....
