Tired of living in a spiritual grand central station

Postby Astrid » 28 Oct 2010, 10:36

Hi everybody! im looking for a little advice on homeblessings

I would like to put some guardience on the entrances and exits of my house so what ever or who ever cant just wander in and out of my home.
Thankfully I have a very hard working familiar who keeps most of the unwanted out but still i would like more control

So first I thought of doing it so only those who live here and those who are invited can enter and exit but I'm not sure if that's the right approach.

Because of course I still want things that a good for me to be able to enter even though they are unexpected.

So i wondered how you guys protect your homes from intrusion without ending up living in an unhealthy vacuum :D

I usually don't really use the witch-speak that you use now ;-), but I get the idea and I will tell you what we did.

First we have expressed a strong intention to have and maintain harmony in our house, not just for us, but for everybody who enters.
With that intention, and lots of other good wishes, we have cleansed every room like you would do in a ritual. We smudged the place with sage, blessed it with fire and water.

Then we added 'content' for the atmosphere that we want to create, making it very much OUR atmosphere. We are both druids with strong shamanic tendencies, so our house looks more like a shamanic cave than a house. (animal skins on the sofa, antlers, herbs, dries mushrooms on the wall, the may queen's spear in a corner, stuff like that ;-)). The central hearth is the focal point, where we make a fire or light incense on a altar.

We have payed specific attention to what we call 'house spirits'. We created little shelters for them, and little altars. Every time some woodwork creaks or moans, or a door opens and closes by itself, something unexpected happens, we laugh and welcome the 'house spirits'. This creates a light atmosphere or harmony that everybody who visits us pics up instantly. We did the same in the garden. We burn candles and incense daily to keep ourselves and our imaginary friends happy and to affirm the intention of harmony ;-).

Some people pick up 'bad vibes' and negativity from others, and from situations in general. If you are sensitive to that it you can bring it home and interprete every little strange event or sound or feeling as negative, depressing yourself and your place even more.
By consciously creating a positive interpretation of all those events, you create a positive magical intent. And everytime something 'happens' in that sense it is an affirmation of that positive intent. That way you can magically 'cleans' your house into a place of good vibes.
At least that is how it works for us.

My answer will probably not satisfy you, because I like to keep it simple, and don't really give much thought to such things, but here's my 5c anyway: I try to keep my living space light, warm, tidy and clean (as much as I can with two preschoolers, of course) and every morning I light a white candle for Brighid, asking her to protect the house and all who dwell in it. Works fine for me.

Sometimes we also need to look at ourselves. Astral entities are quick to spot people to latch onto. Perhaps you may consider being a little less concerned about 'them' and a little more about 'you'.

Well i do think it's caused by the fact that i am hyperactive spirituelly right now. I just finished the bardic grade and it has revolutionized my whole world and need less to say im overexcited to start the ovate so i do think im the cause of it:D

But a memeber of my seedgroup suggested I just put up a positive filter and then do some serious cleaning and reblessing :)

Hi Astrid,

there is a simple "home blessing ceremony" in the Bardic Companion, p.62/63, during which you also do a cleaning and protection...

I don't know how your house looks like (is it a house or a flat, does it stand alone or in a row / block?), but I also like the simple idea of casting a circle around your house by going around... if possible, that is! :D

Try to be exact with your words - like "may all negative beings and influences be kept outside, may all good and benevolent beings and influences be able to enter" or the like. You could even prepare a piece of chalk with that wish and for example draw a pentagram over your door and every window, repeating your wish if necessary (now if that isn't witch speak or practice, then I don't know  ).

All the best to you!
You won't get what you deserve - you are what you take. I don't know why you gotta be so undemanding - I want more. (The Sisters of Mercy)

Certainly - work with both the outer influences and the inner influences. Develop emotional/mind strength whilst practicing space clearing in your home enviornment. I'm reading a book now called Soulcraft by Bill Plotkin - which speaks of the descent into the underworld of spirituality, emerging ultimately in the light of a new life understanding and soul connection.

Thank you Inis! I think thats exactly what i need :D I really liked the bardic home blessing so adding that extra will work well. I live in a flat so walking around it will be hard :D but maybe i can just walk close to the inside of the wall and then "push" it out a little.

:yay:
