So, I received my Introduction today...

Postby Eclipsing Black » 30 Dec 2010, 10:27

I was brimming with excitement as soon as I saw the package, hehe. I read through a good chunk of the included materials, and will be finishing the rest in the next couple of days. The poem on the first page of the "Wild Wisdom - An Introduction to the Order of Bards Ovates & Druids" touched me immediately.

You do not have to be good.

You do not have to walk on your knees

for a hundred miles through the desert, repenting.

You only have to let the soft animal of your body

love what it loves.

Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.

Meanwhile the world goes on.

Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain

are moving acrross the landscapes,

over the prairies and the deep trees,

the mountains and the rivers.

Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,

are heading home again.

Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,

the world offers itself to your imagination,

calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting -

over and over announcing your place

in the family of things.

Marry Oliver

Already, I feel as if this is the path for me. I feel at home on it already, and am filled with hope and an even greater desire to keep pursuing this. I can be who and what I am here, free of guilt. The first Gwers was inspiring, and I wrote a great deal in the journal I have decided to keep (at the suggestion to do so in the "Practicum"). "Three followers of wisdom: imagination, purpose and endeavour" - I believe I will experience these on this long road. Definitely going to sign up for the full bardic course as soon as possible.

Good news - enjoy the path!

Enjoy this life. It would be a shame if we looked forward to the next, only to find we forgot the one before.

I'm happy for you! I have just started the course and am also feeling very enthusiastic.

Thanks for posting that poem. I'm about two thirds of the way through the Bardic course now and can honestly say it has utterly changed my life, both in spiritual and 'mundane' ways. It's great to look back from where I am now and be reminded of the very beginning, where I started a while ago now, and how much I have learnt, developed and changed. I am sure you will love the course and find it enlightening, challenging, scary, exciting, fascinating, difficult and fantastic. Enjoy the journey!

That is so great! It is a very exciting feeling to finally find the path for you! :)

"Presence is needed to become aware of the beauty, the majesty, the sacredness of nature. Have you ever gazed up into the infinity of space on a clear night, awestruck by the absolute stillness and inconceivable lastness of it? Have you ever listened, truly listened, to the sound of a mountain stream in the forest?...To become aware of such things, the mind needs to be still. You have to put down for a moment your personal baggage of problems, of past and future, as well as your knowledge; otherwise you will see but not see, hear but not hear." ~ Voices of the Earth, by Clea Danaan.
