Hospitality and Druid WWOOFing

Postby AgDamhsa » 16 Jul 2012, 22:01

Dear friends,

The topic of this post is Hospitality and Volunteering.

I am a member of www.couchsurfing.org and also of wwoof.ie. My partner and I are currently travelling around Britain and we've had some wonderful experiences. We attended the OBOD Summer Assembly and from that met a few druids who invited us to stay with them as we travelled around. We did.

The druids we stayed with we met through chance encounters. There are plenty of us around who'd love to host a travelling fellow OBODie. Also, I'm sure many of us have projects that could benefit from a few WWOOFers/volunteers in exchange for bord. There must be a way to make it possible to put one in touch with the other.

What do people think? Should we create a list of people who use networks like WWOOF, Couchsurfing, HelpXchange and so on? Or would there be a more site specific way to get this going? Perhaps we could have a forum where folk who are looking for volunteers/hosts.

I would really love to hear your thoughts on this.

i think its a grate idea, the logistics can be worked out.
how cool would it be to just be able to travel round, how cool would it be to sit down and hear some ones stories.
druids of the old days would have relied on this kind of hospitality right?
keep at it pol

Interesting idea chaps, I like the idea of community and of sharing. Have you had much experience so far? Feedback for me, would be good!

A good friend of mine did WWOFing some years ago, and he loved it !
He found an english family (we're from the south of France) who needed some help in their ranch during the summer vacations. He went here with his girlfriend for two months, and he had such good relations whith them than he goes here almost every year now ! And not only to "work", but also for his own holidays etc...

I know WWOOF for years now, but I've never had enough time or courage to do this...
