Yule cards?

Postby StormeRider » 30 Nov 2012, 07:32

I'm looking to actually send out cards to family and such and I was wondering if people had recommendations as to where to acquire pagan-friendly cards. While I don't want to be over the top, I do want to call it Yule or the winter solstice. Any help for someone in the states would be appreciated, thanks!

Hi StormeRider, while I'm sure other people here might have answers closer to what you're looking for, I thought I'd also add that you can go to just about any online stationery shop (Vistaprint or tinyprints.com) and customize winter-themed stationery to say Blessed Yule. Last year that's exactly what I did; I chose a card with a pretty winter setting, removed Merry Christmas and added Happy Yuletide ... for very little cost, too.

Blessed Yule! :)

I hadn't thought of that, that's a good idea. Of course, if I can patronize a small pagan business, that would be preferable. I should check if Etsy has a category for cards...

Some fun stuff out there. Look at the Festive Druid here: http://www.13moons.com/index.php?main_p ... d4d72d72bc

And you could make mischief with this one: http://www.zazzle.com/naked_pagan_card- ... 0351418029

And some clever (but pricy) ones here: http://www.cafepress.co.uk/+pagan+greeting_cards I like the winter king.

Yours aye,

I've been thinking on the same thing, but haven't had much cash to really purchase much. I've noticed throughout the years there tends to be regular holiday cards you can purchase that have Pagan themes(though the people that are buying them don't realize), such as the candles in the windows, reindeer, Santa, a wintery scene, etc. You could easily write in "Yuletide Greetings" or "Happy Holidays" or something of the sort.

It wouldn't cost too much to make your own, either. A pretty winter-themed stamp and one that has the greeting you want (they are out there if you look!), an ink pad or two, some blank cards and envelopes and you've got your own cards, that you can put your own energy into.

I just send out over 400 christmascards, but businessrelated and private.

My idea is that I'm wishing something for the receiving party, and if they celebrate christmas (a 99% do), I wish them merry christmas and don't give it a second thought. If someone wishes me merry christmas I thank them, period. Wellwishes are great, no matter what they are called.

So mostly I don't bother with special pagan cards. Although I seek to use ecological paper etc. One year, I made a smaller batch of cards myself with a little help from google images (robins, wreaths, the whole thing) and Apple Pages editor. They also turned out just fine.
