Piano Concertos and Piano + Orchestra

Postby Kernos » 18 Jan 2007, 21:37

This morning's going to work music was Liszt's Piano Concerto #1 which I have always liked, but do not have.

My favorite concertos are:
Beethven 4 & 5 - tied for #1, I cannot decide between them
Beethoven 3
Beethoven 1
Rachimaninov #3

Beyond these here are many including Rach's Rhapsody on a Theme by Paganini (love the violin theme too)Lizst's, Rach's 2nd and a couple of Mozart's. I am not very familiar with Brahm's and have often wished Schubert had written concertos.

What other's should I learn?

The Schumann piano concerto is pretty good.  I happen to like the two Shostakovich concertos, but perhaps they aren't to everyone's taste.
