Emits in Cornwall means thenm from upcountry tourist etc. Im wondering is it derived from an actual Cornish word ?

An Emit is an ant. The tourists are refered to as emits because, in their masses they resemble a swarm of ants as they enter the county. In Devon they are caled Grockles (not sure about the spelling) but I don't know what that means.

People from Plymouth are called "Janners" - Plymouth airport was known as th e "Jannerdome" and Trago Mills is known as "Janner disneyland" dont know if it comes from Cornish but I pissed muself laughhing when I heard that :)
