Winner, Lughnasad 2003

Postby OakWyse » 08 Sep 2003, 01:43

Congratulation to Flidais, whose poem, "Too Old?" was chosen the Best Poem for Lughnasad 2003 by the participants in the Bardic Offerings Forum.

Too Old?

Look deep in my eyes,
my bonny wee man.
I have been all the wife
to you that I can.

I have spent all my looks
birthing your bairns,
but my love for you still,
in my heart strongly burns.

I know I am not still,
a bonny young lass,
and my figure has gone,
and my young days have past.

But I still have a yearning
deep down in my soul,
to be held in your arms,
not left out in the cold.

I still need your kisses,
my fire it still burns,
and my battered old heart,
for you it still yearns.

Postby Merlyn » 09 Sep 2003, 03:03

Hi OakWyse,Perhaps we can add this wonderful poem to the halls of ye Foggy Duck?
Gladys would not have it any other way!
Flidais, I felt the deep but simple emotion so clearly, and I know a true love poem when I see it :)
Congratulations,
Merlyn
