The Table

The Table

Postby FallingLeaves » 13 Jul 2004, 08:23

I was once the stuff of stars
settling finally
on this earth

I remember so many
of my journeys
and have forgotten
even more

They thought I was an old
kauri tree
of many
hundreds of years

But they cut
me down
when still
in my youth

And I became
the table
of the family
of many faces

Over one hundred
years I have
heard this families
stories

Of joys and sorrows
births and deaths
feast and famines
comings and goings

And as the faces change
and the stories remain
a final gathering
around me

Time now for my ending
as the table
and I wonder
what happens

To all the stories.......l

Beautiful!
Pay attention to the path, and learn the hard way.  The easy way is fun and entertaining, but you take away very little.
