War (Poetry)

War (Poetry)

War

At time of war in the heat of hate
I see my worst fear and wish to deal his fate
When I aim my gun at his head
his children are sleeping in their beds
I know he is as much a man as me
Only to look into his heart to see
I know it's hard to understand
Each draws the line in the sand
Oil, God, Country or political gain
It's always our children that must live out our pain

_____________________________________________________________
In memory of the one thousand or more who have died fighting a wrong war so very far from home. What was all the wrong reasons to go to war has become something even worse. It has become a pointless place for our children to die.

America, where are you now? Don't you care about your sons and daughters?

Peace all

Merlyn
I think you have cracked the hard nut of hatred at the core of war! It takes a lot of courage to look into another's heart and be responsive to what you see! Bravo!

not only are we responsive here, but the mere act of standing with aimed gun, means we are also responsible in part for this man's own haterd...

thanx merlyn,

Wow, Merlyn, that is very profound.
I can't even form a response. I'm just struck.

Thank-you Merlyn, hard words are difficult to pen, but incredibly important.

War

Postby Merlyn » 17 Sep 2004, 13:27

Thanks all,
This poem illustrates how I have always felt about War. Perhaps having been around during and remembering the Vietnam War has a lot to do with how I feel about it. Much was expressed in that time, and I feel all too much has been forgotten.
I see the children out there on the front lines fighting a war started by people who will never have to take the risk. And as with any war, family lines will be broken forever and futures lost.
These are the very same young minds that could be better used to find and develop alternative energy, better Jobs and raise their own children.

Love and light

I cannot say it is a beautiful or nice poem, but it isn't supposed to be...
It is however, something that sticks and really illustrates the feeling we all should have about war... Auch..
