Why are Evergreens Green?
I was in the mythology section pining for lore
I started to leaf through the book "Green Evermore"
Most may have found it was barking up the wrong tree
But I decided to stick with it and read it with glee
So I hooked myself up to a coffee IVY
Wondering what I wood find and see
What I was about to reed left me begging for more
It was rooted in the fable why pines are green evermore
Along THYME ago when trees freely conversed with man
OLIVE(d) Douglas-the-Druid in the county of Slan
Was knott the brightest - YEW could clearly see
Butt the most committed - at least most thought he should be
Fir he be-LEAF-ed the end of the world was near
And he started to fill the POPLAR-ation with fear
He even told his DOG - WOOD yew believe?
Only the trees bough(ed) to him - hard to preceive
FIR they knew the truth and he was not lying
When the trees went to sleep, the world wood be dying
And they ASH(ed) for Dr. Phil's help (another incarnation)
And he WILLOW(ed) the truth from their exasperation
Phillip told Douglas - who was OA-K(ay) with the plan
And the doc created a tree from the ASP(r)EN -ing man
A new TREE-medous tree that would never sleep
To COLL out a warning so peace could keep
Douglas saved the day but YEW knew he stayed a tree
SAILLE know the batty druid was silenced so Phillip let was be
Knott only was HAZEL, HOLLY, and the rest of the world saved
Phillip had also CONIFER - DOUGLAS FIR no longer raved
