Solstice (poetry)

Solstice (poetry)

Postby Robb Hawklord » 20 Sep 2004, 00:07

I posted this up in the Poetry and writing.

After a case of block happened to befall me.

Solstice

It has been a long wait for this day
Many a time I’ve yearned to come
Life’s path can take us far away
Yet one day the path rewards the Sun

We gather in a lane, just to be there
All sort of folks, travellers to Doctors
The spirit grows of time it is aware
That we must pass through the hours Nocturn

And then as one the engines roar
We wind and weave as one true whole
We build the Dragons Body we speak the Dragons tongue
Within each vehicle we are the Dragons Hoard.

As one we move and joined by more
The Dragon grows to fill its new lair
We walk free now the relinquished
As Summer rains and lightning fill the air

The sky now clears by power of will
Celebration times have now begun
As the Sun sets o’er yonder hill
And someone now they beat the drum

I fill my space with Ghostdance sounds
Meditate on what is to come at dawn
Time is slowed in my space around
By majick, aye, and flute so warm

I look to the North Venus so proud
Shining bright as only she knows how
And Jupiter now is in the South
Deities aligned for this one moment now.

And now its time for me to go
Up to the circle sacred stones of old
Through the dark, a path I know
With strength I walk it tall and bold

I know my place and it knows me
Thousands here too many to count
Yet still my place has been kept free
So I can write this rhyme, my account

I stand against a Stone on my right
My body, the stones, they blend as one
The drums play on all through the night
All sound and rythms become just one

And now comes dawn as it pales the night
Around us now the spirits reach higher
And Dragonsbreath surrounds this ancient site
A dawn so fine, and many inspired

The stones are alive its voice I heard
And Heartbeat too I could not ignore
I remembered seeing it when I was a bird
And now protected by the Dragons Hoard

Dragonsbreath it’s so light it does rise
To hide the sun, protect our eyes
The fight begun tween Earth and Sky
And joined at last by Water and Fire
She's the goddess of love
The goddess in green
The goddess of all
That I've ever seen
The goddess of hope
The goddess in brown
The goddess of all
That you've burned to the ground

Thank you Branbeith, go try Dragon Chi. That is based on my experience at the solstice this year.

Heed the Warnings, read the two threads (pub and multimedia) to see what can happen.

Wow! I've just read it again, and am beginning to see the picture you are painting. I think there is still more yet for me to discover in this.

A powerful poem - made me sit up and think and I was particularly struck by these lines.

Thank you, Caritas
It is precisely because our present life is so inseparably linked with desire that we must make use of desire’s tremendous energy if we wish to transform our life into something transcendental.  -Lama Thubten Yeshe

There are two ways to look at life. One is as though nothing is a miracle; the other is as though everything is. -Albert Einstein

I somehow missed this one while I was reading. :o  Very haunting, frightening...well-written and powerful.
