Grieving (poetry)

Grieving (poetry)

Postby Caritas » 24 Sep 2004, 04:47

Ahead, upon the road, appeared a figure quite familiar,
and it seemed to be ...
But the shades of the dead walk not the earth,
yet you seemed to be ...

For you are gone
and I cannot follow.
You are free
while I'm still bound.

But I see your spirit in every tree and root,
in the rain and wind,
and the sea and sand

And I need you near.

Extraordinarily emotional. Anyone who has suffered the loss of a loved one will find the truth in your words. I did.

I am finally getting around to reading all of the beautiful postings. This one truly touched me since my niece was just married Saturday. Her father, my brother-in-law, died when she was but a girl. But I know he was there to see her married.

Thank you for this beautiful poem.

This reads more as a memory than a poem. Beautiful. You captured the spirit of Samhain...

Thank you for your kind words. It popped into my head full-blown; I woke up one morning and there it was, complete with music I have never been able to transcribe...

Blessings, Caritas
