How I became a druid (poetry)

How I became a druid (poetry)

I can't seem to stop writing poems. Here's another one. How many may each person enter?

How I Became a Druid

A child of no more than twelve
I had a feeling one day
I don't remember why
But something to do with Nature
Caused it
Something like love and fear
Mixed as one
Emotion that I could not name
And so I felt it
Sometimes, then often
But still I had no word
To describe how I felt
And so I went
Through the years
Grew up a bit more
And called it awe
Reverence, respect...
I said that Nature was my god
That I believed in Father Time
Sister Moon, Brotherly Love
But one day that was not enough
To explain how I felt
I wrote songs and poems
Trying to explain my feeling
Trying to name that emotion
Trying to explain my faith
Finally I began to play
One of those fantasy games
I made a druid character
And thought druids were neat
So I conducted a search
Upon the net
And found a place
Where druids came and met!
I thought the druids
Were all long dead and gone
Slain by the Romans
Centuries ago
But I was wrong!
Druidry still lives
In the hearts of all these modern folks
And so I stayed
In this new-found grove
I found a name
For my religion
Not atheism, not pantheism, druidry!
And now the word
The word awen
The word that reminds me
Of the word amen
Three quarters awe
One quarter n
The word to express
Awe plus something else
The letter n
Must mean something
Maybe mystery?
I do not know
That's the beauty
I do not know.

I like this... I experienced similar things, and I would guess it expresses the journey of many other people here.
bright blessed days, dark sacred nights
