WILD TIMES

Now we come to the Dark Times
To those wild and weirding nights
When the keen wind howls round the rooftops
And shrieking bats take flight.

Now is the time when the Trickster,
Unhindered, struts down our dark streets
Setting the dogs wildly barking
And challenging each soul It meets.

Now is the time when we nervous folk gather
To welcome those Others who come,
Drawn forth from darkness towards warmth & life,
To share a last meal in our home.

These are the times when Time stands still;
These are the dark days and nights of Misrule;
When King become subject, black becomes white,
And the Wise One becomes the Fool.

Very mystical and mysterious, even a little spooky!
It speaks well to the darker side of Samhuinn.

Very Wonderful, i think it shows the true side of Samhain of the veil lifted and what we have come to expect of it being lifted. :D :-D :fire: :brnbear: :awen:

This is beautiful, Jihana. And more than creepy enough to satisfy my childhood notions of Halloween. Thanks so much for posting this!

You have captured the wild side of Samhain...the mysterious energy of the night when most perceive the veil to be the thinnest....

I enjoyed this. You have captured the heart of both the traditions of Halloween and Samhain.

For I dont know how long, I have dreaded Halloween coming around. When I was a child it was a non-entity, a spooky night when we did nothing to celebrate it. Then along came trick or treat-ing imported from the States, and the untold masses knocking on the door.

This year I am for the first time really looking forward to it coming, and this poem has shown my thoughts on Samhain, not just Halloween.

This is my favourite upto now.

Hawky
She's the goddess of love
The goddess in green
The goddess of all
That I've ever seen
The goddess of hope
The goddess in brown
The goddess of all
That you've burned to the ground

Thank you for your kind words, Hawky. I grew up in County Durham & Yorkshire (thus not too far from you) and my family are in the Skipton area. I too had no thoughts about celebrating Hallowe'en (trick or treat, etc) until I came over here. Now that Druidry has discovered me, the 31st of October means much MUCH more than before.

Peace
