My Little Escape (poetry)

My Little Escape

When sadness is heavy upon my heart
When the day just fails to start
When the sharp pain of grief is felt
When nothing else seems to help
When fear tears at my young mind
When people just aren't being kind
When laughter dies before it flows
When anger multiplies and groes
When the day is long with no rewards
When music seems to be all discords
When hope is small and far away
When headaches are the feature of the day
I have this grove, this little place
Where I feel welcomed, embraced
Where people are kind and conversation good
Where people behave as they should
Where words don't cut into one's heart
And fragile feelings not torn apart
Where peace and calm are the rule
Nobody is monstrous or cruel
Respect we give, respect we get
I still can't believe it yet
That I have these lovely friends
I sure hope this never ends...

This is the poem I posted about in the Pub because I couldn't finish it last night. I am glad it's finished because I am very impatient at the ends of my poems...

The poem embodied what friendship is all about. Thank you for putting so eloquently what so many take for granted.

Very nice, Green Druid. I also love the rhythm. But more important is the meaning. You have said what I have not been able to in many instances.
If man could be crossed with the cat it would improve man, but it would deteriorate the cat.--Mark Twain

UGR-Your poem brought a smile to my face! It does have a wonderful child-like quality about it. And a special place of peace, love and friendship helps keeps me sane!

Underground River, that was beautiful! It gave me such a feeling of peace - Thank you!
Pay attention to the path, and learn the hard way.  The easy way is fun and entertaining, but you take away very little.
