Offering of the Pipe

Offering of the Pipe

Offering of the Pipe

I have sat and wondered many a time,
What I have to offer the world,
And to the Great Spirits.

I would look around and see those
Who can heal with the mind,
And those who can heal with a touch.

Then I would look at my own hands,
And wonder why…
Why are these hands so useless and empty?

What good could come from empty things, like these hands,
What could I have to offer the world,
And the Great Spirits.

How can I heal others…with no power,
How can I heal our Great Mother…with no strength of my own,
These hands hold empty…useless things they are.

So I sat in Prayer,
I sat and prayed…with empty hands,
I sat while I said…

Show me the road that I may travel,
Show me how I too
Can be of usefulness…

Tell me how I can hear song in the trees,
Yet feel their need to express
Their strife and pain…yet can do nothing else to help.

Speak to me and tell me,
How these hands can help,
How these useless things can turn to useful…

I Pray to you now,
Asking you just what can I do,
I have no gift…I have no power but love and the desire to do good.

Then they spoke just one word,

“Prayer”

Now I know what
I can do to help,
I will pray…

Now these hands are
No longer empty things,
Now they hold the Prayer Pipe…

Now they hold
A gift to be shared with the world,
Now they hold the gift of the Great Spirits.

I look now and see,
These hands are no longer useless,
They carry the love of our Great Mother…

Now they hold the Pipe in Prayer.
I hold hope and love in my heart and hands together,
These hands now useful tools…

In Prayer.

With that poem you have given me something to write about. I've only written one thing in quite a while but with those words I have new ones once again.

Thank you so much. :trilithon: I hear the pipe song again.
