A poem of ponderance

A poem of ponderance

Postby fireheart » 02 Nov 2004, 04:34

This poem was written about a month ago, as I reflected on the concept of time. Knowing that I'm only 23, I still feel like there is not enough time for me to do everything I want out of life. This poem is an attempt to come to grips with that.

If Ever A Day Would Pass

If ever a day would pass
without the loss of direction,
Then time would be my ally;
instead a scornful enemy.

Days would unfurl their beauty
like the waves of the sea,
And life hold no boundaries
for the birds in the trees.

The mountains would soar
through the crystalline sky,
and all would speak of their beauty
as the days go by.

Time... it is foolish to think
that one can have everything
simply to be crushed by a simple stroke,
that fate fortold in days before.

Ah those carefree days long gone,
when life's worries held little consequence.
And the world was for dreamers like you and I,
with only ourselves to call upon judgement.

That love of life and truth and knowledge
would flee from my very being
To be left cold, alone, and searching
to regain that lost to me...

Alas, I see that judgement now,
the scales are tipped to balance.
To ever find that day to pass
a world of truth and knowledge.

I liked this one very much fireheart. It captures for me the human condition as it struggles with time. Please do post more.

That was wonderful!!!!

If ever a day would pass
without the loss of direction,
Then time would be my ally;
instead a scornful enemy.

How true is that.
Story of my life!!!

Great job!
