Like most people here in the UK, late yesterday afternoon I caught part of a news bulletin about a Nimrod crashing in Afghanistan, killing the 12 RAF crew and 2 soldiers (apparently this morning on the news, the crash was caused by a technical fault). When I heard the news yesterday, apart from thinking how sad, I didn't give the matter much more thought. However, at about 8pm last night our door bell rang unexpectedly and there stood one of my cattery clients. They had only found out at about 6.30pm that their Son-in-law had been killed in the crash, he was a member of the crew and my clients needed to get to Scotland asap to be with their daughter and young grand children - would I take Jasper the cat who was in the car, as they needed to get on their journey immediately - Cornwall to Scotland where the Nimrod was based, is a long way.
As my client (I have known him and his wife for some years now) left apart from saying he didn't know how long they would be away, yet alone having to console their daughter, where and how do you start to explain to young children that their Daddy would not be coming home again......
This really got me thinking again about the whole situation and those affected, so:

for all those who died in the crash

for the families, friends and colleagues trying to come to terms with their sudden and tragic losses
and finally :candle: for Peace everywhere
