For Aidan

Flying Away (Brother Butterfly)

There are some words to go with the music though I have not the ability to sing them. They can be found on the ITT board's Eistedfodd under 'For Aidan', as I did not write them and as of posting this cant get permission of the author to post them here.

Hope you enjoy, sorry for he poor quality.
She's the goddess of love
The goddess in green
The goddess of all
That I've ever seen
The goddess of hope
The goddess in brown
The goddess of all
That you've burned to the ground

Scattering Aidan's ashes at St Nectans Glen

Sunday was a long day..... On the road for 6am.  Just over an hour's drive to Weston, to catch the coach ( 3 more hours ) - I'm so glad I didn't have to do the rest of the driving - what a fantastic view from a high seat in a coach.  A hard Frost and Fog gave beautiful scenery as we drove down to St Nectans Glen.  At Sunrise, due to the low angle of the sun and it's slow rise, every time we passed a hill we had a Sunset and another Sunrise - probably 12 or more.

When we arrived, the weather was cold and clear but we were sheltered from any wind in the glen.  We couldn't have asked for a better day at this time of the year.

Three members of the In The Trees forums were there in person.... I don't know how many from The DHP...   Some from other Druid groups....  Plus Aidan's family and friends....  Others were there in spirit ( with photos to prove it..... )

These photos are rather large so apologies to any dial-up people...

Not too much water... so plenty or room to stand.  The water fall is off to the left at the end.

Looking back the other way this time.  The entrance to the glen is at the back/centre of the photo.

A higher level shot of the first photo.  Everyone may seem to be looking very sombre but it is a very awe-inspiring place to be.

Steve Best builds a small alter.  Steve officiated at Aidan's cremation and organised the ceremony today.

Aidan's Son ( Andrew ) Scatters some ashes in midstream, after everyone else had each taken their turn to scatter some.  Twenty Two very deep moments for us.

Yet another photo of this incredible waterfall - but no photo can begin to suggest the sheer Magic and Majesty of this place.

Light levels were very low, as we are in a deep valley, so I used the camera's flash assistance here.  The flash picked up on a lot of spray in the air...... but.... if you are into 'Orbs'... then this could well be the Spiritual presence of the rest of you who couldn't make it in person - as I mentioned earlier....

Some of the remains of the house that Aidan occupied, whilst he was with us, are now working their way out towards the Atlantic Ocean.  The rest of it has been retained to be planted with his Oak Sapling, when the Oak Grove is planted.

A day that we won't forget.... and a Brother that we won't forget....

:duir: Many Blessings to All who were there in Body or Spirit... :awen:

Thanks so much for that, RedKite.

Those pics are so evocative.

I miss brother Aidan and his humour. Serioiusly.

There has been so much death to face this year. My heart is heavy. Am I getting old?

Thank you RedKite for posting those photographs.

This is my enduring image of Aidan, as the butterfly emerging from the cauldron of re-birth at the Glastonbury Summer Assembly ritual in 2005.

Yes, his ashes are the remains of his physical being, his soul soars free like the butterfly and is still with us.
