vale marvin

Postby wyeuro » 20 Mar 2007, 00:46

for marvin.  a wise, good old cat, lover of prudence and father of her kittens hanna, iseult and the tabby who died young, whose name i can't say because of an aboriginal taboo.  when marvin was a young cat he fought with a brown snake and killed her - her spirit filled him, and so he was brown-snake dreaming.  i erected a statue for him in the place and called it a time of great magic.  marvin's life was full and rich, and he enjoyed it to the full.

under the last full moon, he fought with another, larger brown snake, and though he left her fatally wounded, he was bitten and died.  death through a brown snake is a very special death, with its own destiny and its own magic.

the interesting thing about it is that the venomous brown snake is called by the aborigines lyrup, or uluru, which means rainbow snake dreaming.  so i thought it was appropriate to mention his death here.  marvin was a gutsy cat and maybe this death was his choice.  my aboriginal spirit guide said that cats and snakes have their own relationship and there's nothing to lament but the loss of an old friend.

blessed be, marvy...
