This week my husband and I released our remaining canine baby to the Rainbow Bridge.
Her name is Lady Guinivere, and I rescued her about 2 1/2 yrs ago. It was raining and she was just about to step head on into traffic. I pulled over and asked her who she was....she came right to me, and after getting her into the car, driving the neighbourhood to find her family (to no avail, luckily), I brought her home.
She was quite the mess....but the love inside of her was emmence.
I bathed her, and upon inspection, we saw evidence of the rough life she had lead.......we decided to keep her.
It became evident to me, that my beloved Sandi had asked the Goddess for a "sister", as she was the only pup we had at the time......they bonded immediately, and we were blessed to see her come out of her shell. She attached to Sandi so strongly, that I believe that when Sandi passed, Gwen's pining, and stress caused her disease to hasten.
Oh, dearest Gweny....we adore you and thank you for the love and lessons....you brought out the best in us, and I am so pained that you arent here in body, but I know you needed to be with Sandi.
Your love to all of us was so pure, and you brought immeasurable pleasure and laughter......and finally now, tears.
We stood by you, thru your disease, and although the experience was heart wrenching, I am proud to have been there to comfort, nurse and love you. So strong you were....even at the end, your eyes searched for me, but they didnt have to look far, as I was holding your precious face, looking into your eyes and speaking to you gently, as your Soul ascended....Daddy held your body and together we promised to always love you.We honoured you, and you knew that you had a "home".
Play amongst the heather with Sandi, and all our other children, my sweet baby.....until we can hold you again.
And know, that you were loved and claimed.....you didnt die a "stray", rather a most blessed child of ours. You are now buried with honour, with our other babes, except for Sandi whose ashes are by my bedside.
Till we hug again........
