It's a shame to see something like this happen, even after so much education and warnings about the dangers of extinction... why they didn't move them to a preserve earlier is simply beyond me.

This is one reason I'm evolutionist. And not a conservative Christian. The human race is so sadly ignorant sometimes, I have a hard time believing that a Higher Power would *give* us guardianship of the planet. It's easier for me to believe that we just evolved to be the most powerful species.
