Kali

Postby Lady Nimue » 18 Feb 2008, 20:49

As most of you know, I care for ferals (fixed) and strays in our beautiful Grove, yard.
About a couple of years ago, this very proud Tom Cat showed up...we named him Kali. I was never able to trap him to be altered, and truthfully, I didnt really want to trap this one, although I know its right. He was so proud and tough as nails, and he needed to protect himself...harder to do when they are altered. I watched as he came and went...offering him food and Catnip and a peaceful place in the Sun.
I was wondeing about him, as we hadnt seen him for a couple of weeks. Yesterday, I saw him in our feeder house, he didnt look well, but he never really did...just tough. This morning, I went out to feed them and saw one of the most horrific animal sights I had ever seen. He had an old wound from his left ear down to his chest...it was open and raw, but I didnt know the extent of it. I was able to get him in the humane trap (I believe he came here to die, like many others).
I took him to Vet.....and saw that he was decaying, full of Maggots, the smell was putred...I wont go into detail to save you from what I see in my mind. As he was feral I cant administer meds, and he was septic...Maggots in his hind leg, as well, so even if I could, he was half way dead already. I tried to think of how to save him, but Vet said he would suffer much.
I stood by his side and looked into his eyes as Vet did what needed to be done. I told him to go to the Goddess, and finally Kali's suffering was over....mine is not.

Please pray that he knows he was loved by us....by me. I will get his Ashes next week and bury them here on the property he loved. He was never owned...he didnt want to be, but he was mine.
Dear Kali...proud, tough boy.....I will see you again.
With love, your Mommy

We will be retrieving his ashes today, and burying them at the base of our Goddess tree.....this is his song......

Zz Top - Rough Boy Lyrics

What in the world's come all over me?
I ain't got a chance of one in three.
Ain't got no rap, ain't got no line
But if you'll give me just a minute I'll be feelin' fine.

I am the one who can fade the heat,
The one they all say just can't be beat.
I'll shoot it to you straight and look you in the eye.
So gimme just a minute and I'll tell you why
I'm a rough boy, I'm a rough boy.

I don't care how you look at me
Because I'm the one and you will see
We can make it work, we can make it by.
So give me one more minute and I'll tell you why
I'm a rough boy, I'm a rough boy.

Dear Lady Nimue,

Kali loved you and chose to return to you at the end. I'm sure he's grateful for your love and your final gift to him.

I'm lighting a candle for his peaceful passage. He's always welcome to join my own companions - I've sent others to them who have no one to go to so he'll find friends there. Im sure you'll see him again.

Love and blessings,
Donata

Oh Nims, my heart is so sad; but I know that Kali is free from pain, and basking in the Summerlands. I hope your sadness is eased by knowing this too, and that you are very much loved by all the fur persons that you have helped, and mothered. (and many of us un-furred folks think you're pretty special too)

For Kali :candle: and for you. :candle: His pain, at least, is eased; I hope yours soon will be, too, knowing that in the Summerlands he's free and whole and has all the catnip he wants.

There's going to be quite a crowd for us at the Bridge, isn't there?
