Many moons ago, a plucky young programmer developed an online application which broadened peoples' music tastes considerably. The principle was simple; you logged in and entered in your email address along with your top 10 favourite bands. The system would then see if your entries matched anyone elses and then send you an email back listing the similar tastes. For example, If entered Blind Guardian as my number 1 choice, it would send me an email of the top 10 most common band occurences in people's lists who also had Blind Guardian (I know I havent explained this too well, but it does matter that much for what Im about to say : )).
The idea can still be roughly used here; post your top 5 bands and then check back every so often - if you see someone else has the similar band tastes to you but you dont recognise a name in their list, it gives you a new band to check out. :)

1. Within Temptation
2. Blind Guardian
3. Elvenking
4. Devin Townsend
5. Nightwish

Good luck, and I hope this works. :)

Sonata Arctica
Nightwish
Blind Guardian
Iced Earth
Hammerfall

That's mostly what I've been listening to for the past year or so although Nightwish is on my bad list right now for postponing their tour after I bought a non-refundable plane ticket to see them.

Absolutely... he is a wonderful composer. I own most of the OSTs on disc. :D

Aside from anime and game soundtracks, my own tastes include just about every well-written piece of music that crosses my path (although I am admittedly biased against country/western!) My favorite genres are, I suppose, classic rock (especially Led Zeppelin, the Beatles and Jimi), some "alternative" (Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins), unclassifiable industrial (Nine Inch Nails, Tool), progressive metal (Opeth), varied vocal (Josh Groban, several operatic compositions) and varied electronic. Basically, if it's orchestrated well, if it touches and stirs the musician inside me somehow... I'm sold.

I'm a fan of most celtic/gaelic music, so I don't really have a top ten. My number one favourite singer is Enya, though - beautiful voice! With "May it Be" as my favourite song. I also like listening to meditation music and have a CD called "Adagio: Music for Meditation" which is nice and peaceful.

Bright Blessings,
