An bhfuil sin ceart?

Postby madpoet » 15 Sep 2006, 18:22

Déithe daoibh,

Tá mé ag foghlaim Gaeilge ag teach na hEireann i San Diego California.  Tá mé breá liom!  Fuair mise freisin úrscéalta grafacha ó Chló Mhaigh Eo, de "An Táin"

Go raibh maith agat as cuidiú le mo chuid Gaeilge.

Slán,
~MP

PS. Learning Irish by comic book, how exciting!

Mise = the emphatic form of 'mé' - so here you would have been saying "I found..." as opposed to someone else.

I'm not sure about 'graphic novel' - I've put in how I would have translated it, however, maybe there's a particular term that's used by native speakers.

Le meas,
Biniaimín.

Thanks Ecne.  I also sent it over to my Irish teacher, he suggested: Tá mé ag foghlaim Gaeilge ag Teach na hEireann i San Diego California.  Is breá liom í!  Chomh maith leis seo, fuair mé úrscéalta grafacha ó Chló Mhaigh Eo, ag...

I got the "graphic novel" part from the ó Chló site, the publisher.

Thanks again,
~MP

Tá fáilte romhat, a chara!

Yeh, go with your teacher's...interesting that (s)he put 'is breá liom í' as opposed to 'is breá liom é'. This is just a question of dialect. I would just make 'it' masculine in the above circumstance, even if 'it' was femanine.
