Hmmm. .. . I posted to the poll long ago, but I forgot to post the details here.

I have two cats: a 3-year-old 20 lb. male cat named Shadow and a 1-year-old petite female cat (probably the runt of the litter) named Treasure. Both cats, I am happy to say, were rescued before they made it to the animal shelter: we found Shadow through a newspaper advertisement, and a student of mine was hiding Treasure in her dorm room until the plumber discovered the kitten.

We also have several fish: a blue gourami (4 years old, I think) named Blue, 2 angel fish (a mating pair) named Raider Fan and Golde, 2 silver dollars (nameless), a handful of neon tetras (nameless), and a pleco named Batcat.

We hope to add to our animal family, but any additions will have to wait until after we move this spring.

BB,

I don't really have any animals, but since a few week, it seems a cat choose to live mostly with us. It's the cat from someone in the area but he spend almost all his time with us... :-) It's a very nice and funny young black cat and we are very happy to welcome him...

I have 1 cat called Bean, and if she would let me I would have a whole house full!! She is so jealous though that if my partner comes to cuddle me she is there in between us!! I rescued two kittens from being drowned and she was so angry when I bought them home that she spent all of the time under the bed with her back to me she only came out to eat and to hiss at the other two, I would have kept the kittens but I was so worried about Bean I had to give them up to a rescue centre, luckily though they found a nice young couple to live with. She follows me around everywhere I even have to sit on the loo with her on my knee!

I can definately relate to Fae's answer that she rules with an iron paw! She gets away with anything and everything! :)

My partner has lots of fish and an aquatic frog and a shrimp. His frog is quite sweet and very terratorial he will come to the front of the tank and head butt the glass, he croaks at us and a little bubble of water comes out and floats to the surface! LOL!  :-)

Blessings

I have an adorable solid black cat named Magic whom I've had since she was four weeks old.  She was the runt of her litter and was nearly killed by a dog when she was a baby.  The lady I got her from told me she was older, but I had to teach her everything, including how to eat and drink correctly.  She's seven now, and spoiled rotten.  She cries whenever I leave to go anywhere, and I can talk to her and she will meow back all day long.  :)

My family has just adopted an outdoor stray cat, too.  She is a mix of whites, browns, and greys, and looks 1/2 Siamese.  We're calling her Simmy.

We've a new addition to the family!

We've set ourselves up a marine tank, and so far have 2 clownfish, a lemon watchman goby, a cleaner shrimp called Claude, a starfish, a sea cucumber called Herbert, a leather coral, 6 hermit crabs, and 4 turbo snails.

i think I spend more time watching the tank than the TV now!  :-)

Since I recently got a new baby kitty from the local no kill shelter (she came to me in a dream, believe it or not, and there she was at the shelter) I now have four kitties and four alpacas.

We have one mini long haired dappled dauchshund, three cats, a tank of fish, one indoor koi pond in the greenroom, two outdoor koi ponds attached with a watercourse outside, and one guinea pig.  We are thinking seriously about adding a nano-reef tank and a bearded dragon to the managerie.  :)

I just now found this post, too, Jingle... What a great idea, Selene. It's been so much fun to read about people's "familiars."

I feel badly to admit that I have just one dog, but he is all I can handle in my situation. I ended up in the emergency room with him last night at 2AM until 4AM. We who love our pets will do anything and spare no expense! It is such a pure form of love. Even with spiders!

Riley was a cast-off Cavalier King Charles Spaniel that I got for free because he wasn't marked properly for selling. HORRORS!!! He is absolutely perfect as far as I am concerned -- very loving, funny, and feisty. He'll be five years old in March.

Just as I suspected -- cats rule the board! I love cats, too. They are such characters and so much fun to watch. They love to type on the computer, too.    |-)

Right now we are 'down to' three cats...

Rocko...the old man...a short hair black and white.
Tobias Twitchit...long haired BIG BOY black and white.
Timmy Tiptoes...long haired grey and white...brother to toby.

oh...
and i almost forgot...two pretty blue and white budgies!

having four children, we've had a number of pets over the years....
a dog, ferrets, bunnies (note the plural...!) gerbils...again very plural...
various batches of tropical fish over the years...ball python...garter snake...anoles...cockatiels...mice...and other kitties...

and other various wild critters that visited us for a day or so such as turtles, snakes, frogs, toads, pidgeons, robins, squirrels, raccoons(they like kitty food!), the neighbor kitties and dogs, ducks(nesting in the yard)

i love my kitties but there are times they are really bad and try my patience! still, i can't ever imagine not having one or two!
