For Butterscotch and Lorelei

Postby Selene » 21 Jun 2007, 06:25

Two semi-feral 8-week old kittens, brother and sister, killed early Wednesday morning when a dog got into our yard and attacked them. We were trying to tame them so we could get them neutered/spayed and find them good homes. The mama cat had brought them to our yard when they were 3 weeks old because she thought it was safe--she'd raised two other litters in our yard--and so did we. Who could have known a dog big enough to leave the huge pawprints I found could have squeezed under the gate like he did?

Even though you weren't really "our" cats, we loved you and mourn you. So rest in peace, precious little ones, and thank you for all the hours of joy you gave us as we watched you play and grow. The yard seems so empty without you...

What can I say to ease the pain.  How awful.

Oh, Selene -- I'm so sorry. This on the heels of your other losses. Too much to bear. Did you bury them in your yard? I hope the dog was reported.

Blessings, Selene, for trying to help them. Ive told you that we have 6+ ferals in our yard...all have been trapped and fixed, and one we adpoted.
They were your babes, and they are playing in the Goddess' hair, right now.
