For Mom and Dad

Postby daseinx » 21 Oct 2007, 04:06

On November 19, 2006, Dad passed away during the night. Mom, my sister and I along with all the grand kids and great grand kid were visiting with him the night before. There was no indication at the time that it would be the last time. Life was hard for him as he was physically disabled at the age of three and his father never forgave him for it. Despite his personal struggles and demons, he was a good and kind man.

Six months and six days later, Mom passed away from lung cancer on May 25, 2007. It was a sudden onset, diagnosed only weeks prior. Mom was strength and determination personified. She was a defender of the disadvantaged and a passionate protector of those she loved. Though she could not stand for animals to be in the house, the universe saw fit to gift her with a Pomeranian who was her constant companion for the last five years of her life.

Thank you for providing a place for me to share a small part of their lives with the world. They deserve that honor, I think, but then, maybe we all do.

daseinx: I'm so sorry you have lost both of your parents. I can't imagine -- I am 61 and still have mine, feeble though they are...

Your folks sound like real role models, very strong and determined. I am sure you have the same characteristics. Do you have brothers and sisters or other family to mourn with?

Your parents were lucky to have you, as well....that was a beautiful tribute.

Strength and Blessings.

I do, Twig, my sister lives in the same town my parents lived in. We talk, but we are so different, it is difficult. We are as close as our differences allow, but there are some things that we don't understand about each other. It isn't from a lack of trying, just two very different lives.

Thank you and everyone else for your kind words. I haven't been on the board too much lately and I have drifted away from the path, any path, over the past months, even before Dad passed away, but that is another thread all together. Thanks again for taking time to think of us.

Namaste

Daseinx: I hope whatever path you feel drawn to will bring you some peace in your sorrow. I understand about family -- I only have cousins, but try as I might, I can't overcome our vast differences. That kind of situation can feel pretty lonely -- for you, too, I'm sure.

Stop by for a visit whenever you feel like it. :shake:
