I had a quick glance : one remark : though climate is changing vine still really grows, blossoms and bears fruit best when planted in the south where it can catch the light of the Sun the most . Lovely photographs!

I’m so jealous I would love to have an allotment like yours; unfortunately all the ones where I live are sited next to railway lines and are forever getting vandalised.

Man holes don’t you just hate them, how many times have designed a garden for somebody to find there’s a hidden man hole in the way,
You could just take the lid off and put a liner in it, job done; only joking.
It could have been worse you could have put your pick through one of the pipes,
I’ve done that a few times as well.
Looks like a lot of effort but it’s always worth it at the end.
I like to put my scented herbs like lavender at the edge of pathways so when you brush against them whilst walking around; you get a waft of the aroma from the plants.
I also love nature ponds you’ll be surprised how much life your get in it.

Hi all
Its been getting colder so not much is happening at Hazel Grove. Although we have dug a few beds so that the weeds get a dose of frost bite. Yesterday we had a dusting of snow and it all looked so peaceful! I have attached some photos for you. We have also been rearranging the pond and dug out some more soil. I guess that this time of year its best to go slow!

Looks great. Aaah, snow... don't see much of that daan saarf. Though we did get a little surprise flurry a couple of nights back, it wasn't enough even to dust the ground.

Hiya Romelia!

Even tho you're not doing much with the Hazel Grove during the colder months, it's great that you are documenting with photos! Years down the road, it will be nice to see the progress.

Have you thought about planting some bulb-type flowers? Crocus, Daffodils, Hyacinths, Tulips, can be planted in the fall, for spring blooming.

Hi!
I have been thinking about bulbs, but I want them up where the knot weed was. I’m still cleaning that area with fire so its going to have to wait a little longer! Thanks for the links. I am so itchy to start planting all my favourite things, but if its one thing I’ve learnt in life...its to bide my time!

Betcha can't wait for the Spring!

I’m very excited about spring but just don’t know where to start! I went down today for my lunch and a fire Fed the birds and put pen to paper. So relaxing. A lot of things have been floating around my head lately so i wrote them down and put them on the fire. Hopefully they got where they were going.

On a bad note some scum have broken in and decapitated some pigeons. I’m so angry. I just hope they never break in when im there

Sprouts! How exciting!
We've had some really cold weather here (nights below freezing), so I'm really looking forward to seeing some sprouts in my yard!
I can't wait for spring!

So...I have been down to the grove today. Not for anything in particular to do, just to potter and read! However I did sow some seeds to their trays and on my way pick up a wisteria that I plan to plant next to the un-built summer house! I planted some red onions, chilli, and lavender. I’m so excited!!!


Also today I had a greenhouse delivered Its like a massive poly-tunnel. I haven’t put it up yet....it seemed a bit too windy (I had wizard of oz flashing through my mind ) I decided on this one because if the scum brake in and trash the place, I dont have to deal with broken glass. If it gets slashed with a knife, then all i need to do is put a new cover on!

Hi folks,
just thought id pop in and show off my new Chiminea! I have always wanted one of these baby's. Its going to be great to use on cold evenings and handy to burn up some leaves! Ill still make my big bonnies but if the soil is too wet this comes in handy!

Hi Romelia; i have only just came across this wonderful topic, it looks like everything is coming along really nicely.

I would also like to thank you because you have inspired me to look into getting my own little patch to tend and care for. It is a wonderful solution also to a problem of not really having anywhere to go when i need to get away from things and find peace; something very hard to come by at home where i have almost no privacy from other family members and there is no space to do or practice anything since there is much on-going and fairly long term work occuring.
