Glad your feeling inspired. It is such an amazing aspect to my life, to just get away from it all with bottle of juice and create your own spiritual corner. Yesterday I planted some early veg and honeysuckle! Then kicked back and did a bit of writing.
However it can be hard work so I advise on some help and a big whip!
Also waiting lists are extensive so I would suggest a field trip to a few sites and talk to some of the residence. They are always happy to point you in the right direction and give you a few names. This helps because some plots get abandoned or unused and sit without the council knowing about it Then call whoever is in charge and let them know of your circumstances I have a north Tyneside plot and they are very good I can get skips and basic materials free. I don’t know about Newcastle but you can give em a try. I have attached a couple of links

Thankyou for the links; they will be very useful, well one will anyway! I generally list myself as from Newcastle as it is the nearest city; though North Tyneside would be more correct as i actually live near the coast and whitley bay.

I am not shy of hard work; i just sometimes lack the motivation for general DIY projects etc as they don't really interest me much though i feel this project would be a huge source of motivation. Help would be a bonus but possibly hard to find from friends and family as not many still live in the area and those who do generally have busy or conflicting work timetables to my time off.

My grandparents used to own an allotment not far from me, it was nice; but possibly too small for what i would like as i would intend for it to be a long-term venture; i feel it would be better possibly waiting for a larger plot to become available instead of just getting a small one and moving later. However i will spend the coming weeks doing my research to see what is available in the surrounding areas; perhaps i will find my perfect plot!

Today the pond has been dug out to what was needed and all that’s left if to line it! Been digging up some patches in preparation for planting too, but I don’t know what to plant where yet! I created a suitable workspace in the green house, as I was running out of room! Its amazing how much junk accumulated there in such a short time.
Today I also noticed the birds getting more confident around me and I found some animal tacks that seem a bit too big for a fox. Could be a stray I guess.
Tomorrow ill head down and define a few plots for veg and start to plan my sacred space there. I pretty much know where its going to be, but I am thinking of a small subtle alter hidden away there.

Hi all!
Been planting a few trees for the natural hedge today. We planted Hazel, Beech, Hawthorn and Holly. Also found some odd stuff in the shed (As seen on 1st photo) Something has retched up some mucus and string! I think it’s a cat as there was a little indent where it had curled up on a black bag next to the pile of sick. What else could it be and why string!? Also found some little foot prints near the pond!

I think your Grove is great and you have achieved so much already. I am looking forward to seeing it bloom this year.
Thought I would add my two pennies worth in.
Dont know how much you know about plants but as you are in the planning stages have you thought about 'companion' planting. This is where you plant things together to help control pests naturally. EG If you plant Basil next to Tomatoes it helps to stop thrips and flies, corriander repels aphids (roses) and potatoe beetles, Rosemary deters cabbage moths. I have found it really effective and for the last few years have had very few bug problems.

Well its been a while!.......but things at the grove are looking good....if a bit behind. I have had a time and a half moving to a new house and sadly a very close friend has past away after a very long illness. So I have become a stranger not only to the board but the grove too. I plan to plant a tree in the next few weeks in remembrance.
Photos will be posted when I can find the camera again! All these boxes, where to start.......

Found the camera and so I have posted a few pics on how its coming along. At the moment a bit barren! But there lots of shoots and veg now poking their heads through the frozen ground! And the hedge has been planted.

Just been pottering this morning and planted some Hyssop and Woad seeds. Also the first oak shoot has broken the surface on one we planted last year! Took some photos and have started the herb island too. I am hoping to have quite a good collection of herbs.
