His name is Hondje (Dutch for Doggy). Thank you very much!

Is there a way to put out food for him, so that he gets back into the habit of having contact with humans? Also, it keeps him staying around, and as soon as the weather gets bad again, he will be only too happy to return to human care...

That is usually how I got my cats back - they have to understand that there is a benefit to having humans around.

Good luck for you both

It means 'island' in I-don't-know-what language :-)

It hase been my adopted name for some five years now, I chose it because I like its sound, and its meaning; I associated it from the first time I met the name with the sandy islands in the river Loire. I wrote about the Loire in the 'sacred sites' subforum :-)

That's a good story, ennys. As long as you don't think *you're* an island!

   for Rhiannon. I know the feeling of being stuck in a depression, but always remember: things do get better.

Twig: Thanks for the enquiry, I have not been up to anything in the last week. It is weird to finally, after 5 years, be left without any deadlines and stress, and it also has brought it home that due to the deadlines and stress, I have not been able to do anything meaningful with my life. So now I have to start all over again - find friends and hobbies, activities that I want to pursue, and also recover my connection to the Land and the Goddess - that is always a casualty when I am in utter stress. To summarize it: I am just as depressed as Rhiannon, and have to finally sort my life. Not an easy feat...

Anyway, it is weekend, and I am starting to do this. I will go for a hack tomorrow and discover the countryside on horseback, and on my own two feet on Sunday. Wish me good weather - we had glorious weather all week, but now it is getting grey again, just in time for the weekend...

So in stead... I'll just run around peeps in circles and make funny faces!! :yay: :yay:

If that won't make em laugh... me smacking down on my face coz I'm not paying attention to where I'm running WILL :-)

Great idea, Ais -- loved the video!!

When you get up off the floor and get the stitches out of your broken nose, Ghostie, how about a little dance? I can hit on *you!* :-) :-) Riiiight.... :old:

I just wanted to let you know that there were storms in our area earlier, including a tornado 5-10 miles away from where I live. I'm safe, though...nothing worse than a bad :gloomy: at my house.

It's all good! :gulp:

WHAT!? Y'all have tornadoes in Michigan? :boggle: I had no idea. Isn't that unusual? Whatever, I'm happy you didn't go flying through the air without a broom!!

Where I live has been declared a disaster area due to the drought. It was "only" 96 today. <tongue drags floor>

Unusual where, dear Twiggy? Up beyond Clare*, perhaps? *gentle smile* I see that you're unaware that we have our own "tornado alley", running from Van Buren County (southeast corner of the state, headed toward Chicago) to the northwest, through Bay County/Bay City (near the thumb). My grandparents always get the worst of it, because they are in the village of Vermontville, which is near Barry County, which in turn is in Michigan's "tornado alley".

I was hoping for peace today, but that was not to be had. The power went out at 2p and when I discovered that Consumer's Energy didn't plan to have the power back on until 11:59p Sunday night, I called my mother and went to stay with her. (She lives in the city, so if she loses power, she still has running water. A disadvantage to living in the country to be certain!) She cooked and I discovered that the power had come back on after dinner (the answering machine picked up). We were in the second hand of our second game of rummy when I happened to call back and discover that the answering machine was no longer answering! :P Staying the night it is (good thing there's still a bed in my old room...even if I did have to bring sheets) and off and running tomorrow morning. As a Pagan, I will not be going to church with her tomorrow morning (this morning by now...it's after midnight), but I (blondely) left the A/C running with all the windows cracked an inch, so when the power comes back, I will be cooling the outside! :P Thus, as soon as I return to consciousness, I will ring my house...if the machine answers, I will pry myself out of bed and get going as soon as possible...I can nap at home if necessary! If the power's out, I will have a bit of a lie-in and call again later. (I can tell I'm on an English message board...I'm bringing out the British phrases like it's nobody's business!)

I will keep you updated whenever I have the chance...and the power! The radar showed a nasty storm coming our way about 11a tomorrow, so if I do manage to wake near 7a and find the power back, I shall have to get cracking. (Oi...I'm repeating myself...time for bed!)

Man, catching up after a six month board hiatus, nice to see this thread's running strong as ever. Nuts! All a' ya! Okay, so maybe I missed the lunacy, just a little bit... Great to see people haven't lost their sense of humor. :)

I feel your "tornado alley" pain, Rhiannon. Stay safe.
