The view from Alderley Edge

Hello to you. I wanted to tantalise your tastebuds with an excerpt from my blog 'The Hedge Druid' in the hope that you will discover the stories I have been weaving with my good friend Kal in the last few months, all about our visits dowsing and communing at ancient sites. Excerpt from...Alderley Edge post, 21st August:

"I returned to see that Kal had finished and he let me place my rock on the power centre. I made a connection by lowering my conscious barriers to it, and then placed energy into the rock until the flow slowed. Then I picked up my rods and began to see if any new energies had appeared. A petal. And another, joining to the first with that celtic spirograph-like sweep into the next petal, and back across the power centre to another, then around again - soon I had the picture of a flower changing shape as I dowsed, just like what had happened last week at Helsby Hill where I had to abandon my attempts to draw it because it changed as I drew and dowsed along. Then it had fazed me, now it excited me - more ‘mobile’ energy patterns and lines! Responding to my increasing awareness of them? I posed that as a question but I felt I knew the answer.

One more confirmation of something established last time I’d been here - No energies in the rocks. I asked Kal to see what he found, then watched to see him shaking his head - “Nothing there!”. Strange, huh? Not an energised stone circle as we had come to know and love them, but a place where energies could be harboured, perhaps invigorated by the forced geometry?"

I'm glad you liked it Wintersundog. August has been a busy month for Kal and I. I've just finished posting a new three-part tale about a visit to Anglesey recently.

Keep checking back for more accounts of druidry and dowsing. An intoxicating combination which pushes us towards understanding, but always keeps us humble.

like your site! I do a lot of walking In and around the Peak district and Pennines and have visited a number of these places.
I like to get to them as early as possible in the morning and hopefully experience them alone with just nature around me.
i like the idea of a hedge druid too! I have come across hedge witches before, but not hedge druids.

Hi Bleddyn,

On a sort of "If you like that you'll love this" theme...have you noticed that my latest posts on Hedge Druid are about a visit to Nine Stones Close and Doll Tor in Derbyshire? Your neck of the woods, and I'd be inteersted to hear any stories you might have about those sites. In fact, were you one of the ladies that my friend Kal and I encountered last week? Could have been!?

Also, for those of you who are wondering why ths isn't talking about Alderley Edge any more, my friend Kal put a post up on Hedge Druid recently talking about his odd expeience at Alderley Edge and the lesson he was taught there (which he's still struggling with). Always worth a punt, tales like that!

Hi VT and greeting from Belfast.
I'm just getting into your site The Druid..fine work sir.you could get lost in there. I noticed your list included Cumbria....my old stomping ground. Lack of transport prevented me from seeing the sites - except Castlerigg of course. One that intrigued me that I don't see on your list is Swinside - not the one near Keswick the one near Broughton in Furness. http://www.english-lakes.com/swinside_stone_circle.htm Its on the track less travelled as it were and may be worth your consideration.
Of course you must come over to Ireland and explore here.
There are some interesting lumps and bumps that I intend to have a look at in the next month...I live near a place called Rathcoolle (Newtownabbey) and there is a Rath and a couple of underground passages near local woodland on Carnmoney Hill. Nothing grand but part of it is ancient woodland and I think less frequented than what is in my immediate vicinity.

Anyhoo that's enough rambling from me...just thought you'd like to know about Swinside.
