KOWABUNGA!!!!

Holy cow patty, Ghostie -- That is some serious, heavy metal, macho activity! Is this weapon a part of your country's history? I confess my ignorance. No wonder knights sore armor...:yikes:

Hehe.. sometimes the armor was useless against these things... lol..

And the weapon only was part of my country's history in the sense that part of the 100 Year War was waged in Flanders and the South of the Netherlands (we were part of France and the Holy Roman Empire at the time). And the counts of Gelderland and Brabant were on the receiving end of this thing at Crecy and Azincourt... Not a good place to be, haha. :duck:

Well, first of all, Ghostie, I meant to type "wore" instead of "sore," although I think that wearing armor would definitely make one sore.

That's a pretty succinct history. I didn't know any of this, but I'm American, and we are perceived as pretty stupid, anyway. The Dutch "empire" was apparently pretty large at one time, huh? Did y'all do the whole "let's-take-over-the-world" thing like the Persians, Romans, Spanish, British, and now the United States?

I will have to look up Gelderland as I don't know where it is. But my trusty atlas will instruct me! Getting poked by this vicious weapon would be lethal, I'm sure. Have you ever shot one?

Our "Empire" came a few centuries later Twig.. In Medieval times, we were pretty much ruled over...
Prior to Medieval times, we were (and still are) part of the Germanic tribes.. Lot's of messing with Romans and all..

We did control a large portion of the KNOWN world through trade. And we had a few bouts with the Spanish, French and English.
If it weren't for us trading Nieuw Amsterdam (now New York.. ) for Surinam.. you lot might all be speaking DUTCH!! hahaha :-)

I've not shot the bow yet, as it's tricky to find a place where I'm allowed to. Most clubs are scared of the thing and I'm not allowed to shoot in public (wonder why... lol ), so I'm looking for a farmer that has just taken the crops off the field and doesn't mind me trudging along his land and let fly some tree-trunks.

And that's why I skipped history lessons at school!!!

So I called my doctor again today and I have an appointment with a physiotherapist tomorrowmorning to check if there is too much pressure in my neck that can couse the headaches. And I have to make an appointment with a neurologist at the hospital for futher tests. And in the meanwhile I'm still on 10 pills a day.
It sucks! It is a very tiny bit less but still far away from totally gone. :gloomy: Three weeks now......

Mey -- Ten pills a day?!? :boggle: Hope you have lots of food in your belly while you're taking them. Maybe add in some pro-biotics, too? Got to take care of that digestive tract -- you want to be able to enjoy eating until you're a ripe old age! Maybe the pressure on your neck is because you have such a big brain? Seriously, I hope your doctors can figure out what's happening. I've had a headache for the last 22 years, and I know how totally not fun that is...

So, Ghostie -- Can't you just find a farmer with a bunch of bales of hay that need to be aerated? The size of those arrows should make substantial holes... I think you'd better do some heavy lifting before you try to pull on that bow. Eek!

I have been listening to an audio book which states that the Dutch empire fell because of the same reasons that the other great civilizations fell. Over-circulation of money, outrageous debt, etc. I never knew there *was* a Dutch empire! Must have been true, and you're right -- we Americans really could all be speaking Dutch! Except we want to try that empire thing so we can fall flat on our faces. <splat>

WWWWW00000TTTTT

I am back, move went well, and the new house is quite nice, even though I do not plan to stay long. I am going to start looking at other places again, so I can hopefully find a place to stay for the rest of my life, however long that may be.

@Mey: Love the Kitty, he looks really cute, and the name is great, too. Hope you get better soon, headaches are a pain in the neck (no pun intended), as they are so unspecific. It is very hard to find out what causes them and to treat them properly, and in the meantime, they are making your life hell. 10 pills a day is a short-term solution, but somehow, somewhere, you have to find the cause. Good luck, and lots of good wishes

And stay away from the alcohol, it only makes it worse, unfortunately...

As far as the duel is concerned: I would suggest cotton balls at 20 yards, and whoever hits first is the winner, that would reduce the chance of injuries, and add a little challenge. And even Ghostie should be able to master that. Thanks for the offer of drinks, Ainevar, if you ever make it to East Scotland, say hello, we are a friendly bunch up here. There is definitely some Whiskey around for guests... (And that includes Ghostie :shake:)

Right, I will now go and have a look at 3 houses in the area. Hopefully, one of them is suitable, but I have my sights on the one I am viewing on Friday - it is out in the glens, and even though it would mean driving to work, it would be nice to stay in the countryside. And who knows, I might actually be able to persuade my boss that I can work from home and so avoid driving altogether. After all, that is what computers are for, isn't it???

So, it's great to be back, and I see I haven't missed the 500 yet. Guys - you have become lazy....

Thanks - now that I have more time, it is probably more fun :yay:

If you bumped into someone at Specsavers, you did something wrong - after all, they should provide you with glasses that keep you from bumping into people. But otherwise, no idea. How could you recognize him/her in the first place :-)

And - 66!!!!

Let's hear it for those of us living in the Blurred World! :uncool:

Aylyn!! :hiya: It's so good to have you back roaming the board! You have been misssed...

I do like the cotton ball suggestion for the duel, but knowing Ainevar & Ghostie, the duel will devolve into a food fight. :pie:

So, what's the deal with the house-hunt? I thought you were going to be stuck in a B&B with your cats being boarded. This sounds like a much better plan!

Yes!!! It can get worse: I've got, on top of all the crap I'm dealing with, the flu! All the painkillers suppress the fever, but the rest of the horrible stuff added up everything else.

But my parents are having a GREAT party this weekend because the both turned 60 this year and I'm sick! :gloomy: Me must go!!!
