I'm just re-reading my collection of the discworld books.

Have you read "Good Omens", which he wrote with Neil Gaiman?

Possibly the best book I've ever read!

I love Good Omens! One of my favorite books! Hilarious.

At the moment I'm reading an embarrassing potato chip of a novel I got in an airport to read on the plane. Awful. Not worth mentioning (except to avoid a Nora Roberts book called "The Pagan Stone"), but I'll probably put that down and pick up one of the books on the "To Be Read" list on my bookshelf. It's about 10 books deep now. I'd say it's going to be between a biography of the 19th century American President Andrew Jackson called American Lion (Jackson was a real character), one of the Druid books I just bought (and I can't remember the title), or a vampire book someone gave me for Xmas (can't remember the title), or even a fantasy book I got for Xmas a year ago and it got lost on the pile (The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss)k, or The Audacity of Hope by Obama.

Speaking of Neil Gaiman, has anyone read American Gods? Very interesting with some great ideas in it.

'The Jewel in the Skull' , 'The Mad Gods Amulet' , 'Sword Of The Dawn' and 'The Runestaff' by Michael Moorcock , I read these years ago and loved them , but now......i dunno , it all seems a bit daft . Old-fartdom beckons .

Also re-reading 'The Path Through The Forest' by Julie White and Graeme Talboys , which is just as inspiring as the first time , so there you go .

Now I reading a FUN book, Star Trek Academy: Collision Course by WIlliam Shatner et al.

This is a prequel to the coming TV series "Star Trek Academy". I have only read a few chapters, but highlights so far include the 1st meeting of Spock and Kirk (in a brothal so far), Kirk's relation with his brother Sam...

I picked up to pamflets from my local "alternative" bookshop last weekend by Glennie Kindred, one called The Sacred Tree, the other The Tree Ogham. Both are fantastic. Yes, they are brief, but they are great for beginners like me. The Sacred Tree looks at 13 native British tree, and examines their underlying energy, healing properties and uses for the wood. It then has a little bit at the back about growing trees. The Ogham book looks at the 20 trees in the Ogham, their meanings for us, and how to communicate with each tree. There is also a section on making your own Ogham sticks. Not only are both booklets full of great information, but they also look wonderful. They are handwritten and hand illustrated in beautiful calligraphy by the author, rather than being typed out. They are both hand bound with string by the author, so they are wonderful personal things to have, as well as to read. I would recommend getting copies of these from her website, either for a beginner, or I imagine they would be great reference books for experienced people.

I'm currently re-reading The Ladies of Grace Adieu by Susanna Clarke... will probably re-read Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell next. That may be my all time favourite book in the world. But the short stories are also almost uniformly excellent. I'm also reading Talboys' Path Through the Forest and like it very much.

Oh... true to form I have just finished re-re-re-re-re-reading Pratchett's The Fifth Elephant - one of my favourite Discworld novels.

I have now finished 'The Song of Susannah' (6) , and 'The Dark Tower' (7) -Absolutely fantablass . Reccomended .(How do you spell it ?) - What we need here is a Stan Laurel head-scratching smilie .

Next - 'The Road' By Cormac McCarthy , which i read in one session straight out of the jiffy bag . A bleak , bleak , affecting book , poetic and grim .

And , 'The Secret Life of Trees' by Colin Tudge , i'm finding this to be a bit of an endurance test so far .

After Reading 'How to be free' By Tom Hodgkinson, I decided to read his 'How to be Idle'. How to be free is very funny and yet very true, offering some sound advice on the pains of life. I’m only half way through 'How to be Idle' but I am finding it to be very witty. Both I have found hard to put down!

I just started Why I Am Not A Christian by Bertrand Russell. Great read so far, one of those books I just nod my head up and down page after page.

I'm also a good way into A Guide To The Good Life: The Ancient Art Of Stoic Joy by William Irvine. I'm a fan of Stoicism in a real big way, so this is a great bedside book. I picked it up after reading Marcus Aurelius' Meditations.

And, of course, I'm always to be found somewhere in Lord Of The Rings.

Like a true junkie i am now reading 'The Road To The Dark Tower' by Bev Vincent , and 'The Dark Tower - A Complete Concordance' by Robin Furth . I can't say much i dig this stuff! . I'm not a Steven King fan at all really (I've only ever read 'The Stand' half way through and gave up) , and thought that i had discovered something no one else knew about ! Now i see that there are fan sites and message boards etc , and even these two reference books i'm reading . They are as encompassing and engrossing as the LOTR , a real treat , a rare thing . I often found myself thinking "I'll just get to the next chapter then go to bed".....two hours later.......

Anyway, if anyone is inspired to read them , start with book 2!(The Drawing of The Three) Strange advice , but book 1 is , i dunno , 'different' , and you may be put off the rest.

Just finished Meeting the Medicine Men An Englishman's travels among the Navajo by Charles Langley. Excellent true life story of Charles experience as a bag carrier chauffeur and eventually trainee to a Medicine Man - Blue Horse. Many similarities with druidic studies in their relation to earth and sky and different realities of seeing all the more interesting in that it is a living working tradition happening now.
