Clipped from site: The most recent edition of Light's List of Literary Magazines was for 2007. It was published by Bluechrome and I have heard that it is now out of print but have so far been unable to get confirmation of this from Bluechrome. A 2008 edition was planned by Bluechrome but never commissioned. Whether I shall resume publication myself I have not yet decided. If I do it will be announced here and in various independent press magazines.
If you do wish to try to obtain a copy of the 2007 edition, the details are below.

An open-source, multi-platform office suite with the ability to open most basic document formats. (I.e. it will open Word files, I think it will try to open access databases, but it will fail to open Project or other specialist formats.) Unlike some other open-source projects, this one is actually supported by some big industry names (specifically Sun Microsystems of Java fame) and built for commercial use.
It exports to a few useful formats like PDF and HTML by default and the default (Open Document) format itself is basically a collection of zipped XML files for you tech-heads.

A multi-platform suite of writer's tools to help with the creative process. It has storyline tools (time-line based), scrap-booking / cork-board functionality for brain-storming and even a card-game for batting writer's block. The demonstration version is useful, especially for working out what it does, but it does limit certain useful functions. You are limited to a handful of concurrent story-lines, for instance. This is not crippling, but it is enough of a niggle to make you want the full version.

It's challenging to build a whole world, whether you want to write fantasy or science fiction. It's so easy to delineate too little, and have your world look cardboardy and incomplete, or to get bogged down in details to the extent that you never actually have time to start your story. These are some of the very best sites I've come across:

Very thoughtful articles with all the detail you need to get started, and lots of food for more imagination. There's even a workshop to help you sketch your world out from start to finish in 30 days, 15 minutes a day. Gives much to build on in a coherent fashion.
