Actually, it's for a wonderful course I'm taking which combines Seamus Heaney's translation with a crash course in Old English.

I lke Seamus Heaney too, though I prefererred the Tolkien translation (which is meant to be re-issued sometime soon as its only to be found in a few libraries at present).
) I have a photostated copy (does that date it?) of Tolkien's trans. I like it best - although he was a linguist/philologist like I am. I monkey around with transliterating Beowulf myself - I am on about line 420.
