My son - Paul Monk

Postby Skylark » 08 Apr 2009, 17:16

My son Paul died in Mombasa, Kenya, on 18th February, aged 24. He was taking a break from some work in Uganda, where he was conducting research into local psychiatric health projects. Since his death we still know very little about what happened to him. We were not able to hold his funeral until five days ago, and the inquests in Kenya and Britain are still being prepared.

Paul would have been a final year medical student if he had survived to come home this autumn. He was brilliant, capable and compassionate, and would have been a great doctor, no doubt settling in Uganda or Kenya, where his heart lay.

This post is to honour his memory: my beautiful boy, mischievous party animal, happy can-do spirit, generous friend, my son who still makes me proud every day and full of love with every thought of him. I miss you Paul xxxx

My thoughts are with the family who's loss is great and for your brave son.

May your son's light ever be strong in your hearts and in those he has touched on this Earth.

Many thanks again to all of you for your blessings and sympathy. We still don't know what happened to Paul, as the investigations are moving with astonishing slowness... but your love and prayers are felt and appreciated. xxx
