"Green" gas

Postby Aelfarh » 08 Mar 2010, 22:01

My electricity supplier is ecotricity, I got an email from them offer me to join a new scheme on "green gas" for house use. What do you think about this, is it worth it?

Grid supplementation is something we are working with in Virginia.
We have a very good spot in West Virginia, and on the border of Virginia for wind power.
Even the roads there have names like "windy way" and such. There is always a good strong wind there.

However this is a remote place, and getting the power to the places it needs to go is a matter of land rights and using a different kind of power transmission lines.
It will take a bit of time.

Personal solar is another thing supported here. However getting over the scam artists who want to grab the grants and "rent" the solar panels in home up-grades are already a problem. It is something I looked into. So I will wait a bit until I can study the solar systems very well, make the right choices, and install it myself.
I am also considering becoming a "solar contractor", and making it an easy fix to the problem for homeowners.

We’re launching a brand new initiative and we’ve dubbed it Microtricity. It will bring big benefits to Ecotricity customers that install micro generation at home.

Microtricity is a tariff through which we’ll pay our customers for every unit of electricity they generate at home. Our customers can use the electricity themselves (and still get paid for it) and we’ll also pay for any excess that goes back into the grid.

Some people call this kind of thing a Feed in Tariff (or FiT) the government calls it a ‘cash back scheme’ – we prefer Microtricity. After all it’s about making green electricity (or ecotricity) on a micro scale at home.
There’s definitely never been a better time for you to install your own microtricity source or a better scheme to support you in doing so.

This, I believe is the future solution to the grid problem. It takes the peak energy problem off the grid.
This will also stop the need for more and more power plants.

If every house was producing some electricity, the over-all need for peak production would stop.

The microtricity scheme is very interesting also, shame that I'm letting, If I owned my place I would think about that.

Yes, Aelfarh, for now.
Opportunity will come, and in researching this you will be much better prepared when the option to buy arrives, or perhaps a job being a part of this solution, or any number of things. When I worked for a geothermal HVAC company, 20 years ago, I was renting. However when the time came in 2007, I found a geothermal home and locked into it immediately. Now I am in study of solar, and already placed my new studio in alignment with the southern sky.

Your best opportunity always comes when things seem the worst. We simply must keep our eyes open, study and learn as much as we can.
Then when it is time, we react quickly, positively and directly. This is the resolve of positive action.

Share this with others you know who do own, and support will be greater when it is your chance
