If we would stop multiplying for just one generation, then all our ecological and poverty problems could be solved. Enough space and resources for everybody (actually, there would be infinite resources for everybody, because theoretically there would be nobody left).

I wonder if anybody ever did the math. How much time of global non-procreating would it take to get back to 1% of the current population? From 6 bilion to 60 miliion people?

To be honest, I don't see any correction in this situation any time soon.

Even in my country amongst the middle class where we have 0 growth or negative growth.... the overwhelming majority of people are procreating. Even though it's usually 2 children, there are very view abstaining to help the Earth.

Then when you look at impoverished countries.... then the Earth is in big trouble.

Unless we start colonizing other planets?

I postulate the only way to deal with current over-population would be to develop air-born chemical castration. But it may be too late for that and require Pestilence, War, Famine...
